Pros
Benefits, area discounts, good retirement program
Cons
Too much change, too little progress
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees
Pros
1) Great opportunity for exposure to other departments of the company.
2) Opportunity to achieve series 7 and 66 licenses.
3) Visible to managers tri-site.
Cons
Dealing with high call volume can be tedious, and dealing with high value client's that expect you to do everything can be annoying and tiresome.
Advice to Senior Management
Always make it known how you see yourself progressing with the company.
Pros
Benefits are decent, job security is high, people are nice, perks ok
Cons
pay is horrible, positive reinforcement isnt always there, they promote on being nice and not what you know.
Advice to Senior Management
Take care of your lower level managers and associates better and you can retain the employees that are worth keeping and not the ones who the employees worth keeping get out of trouble
Pros
Benefits
Work life balance (at associate level)
Great firm reputation among industry
Cons
Middle Managment provides no further growth opportunities, compensation is horrible. Not enough buy in to truly compete on the retail side of the business.
Advice to Senior Management
Create more positions to broaden the servicing capabitlities of the firm. Compensate for performance.
Pros
-friendly yet professional people
-supportive of personal growth
-open communication
Cons
-a bit conservative
-inefficient HR services
Pros
Good company for which to work, moderate salaries, long-term orientation. premier company in its field, widely respected by everyone all over.
Cons
moderate salaries, slow to make decisions, hierarchical as to promotions, faces some business challenges in the future because of secular changes
Advice to Senior Management
look more aggressively for talent in lower ranks and don't be afraid to reward it
Pros
Good Training, Respectful Leadership, Great People, and a steady track record. If pay is no issue, it's a great place to work!
Cons
The pay is not very good compared to other firms. Also, it's not a growth firm. Very steady and consistent, but don't expect much innovation.
Advice to Senior Management
Choose to compete in the full service brokerage world or become a investment services corp. Right now as a mutual fund company it's in an uncomfortable middle.
Pros
Reasonable benefits and vacation, but that's not uncommon amongst most employers. Culture is good overall; however, egos are promenant in investment related areas.
Cons
This is not a company to work for long term and particularly if you want to climb the "corporate latter" to make a decent living. Politics are increasing evident as you move up in the ranks, and salaries are far from standard if you take that path. Get the experience and move on after 3 or 4 years. Otherwise, expect big promotions if you play your cards right....with little compensation to justify the role. Turn a position down, and you'll likely end up in Siberia. Company over-elaborates the fact that they provide benefits. Sure you get healthcare, etc... but all companies offer those perks. For the extra few days of vacation and additional retirement benefits (based on a percentage of your already pathetic salary) it's definitely not worth the sacrafice.
Advice to Senior Management
This is difficult to provide as it is largely dependent upon your area. Overall, management is accomodating; however, the growth of the company and "penny pincing" mentality often leads to understaffing or delayed re-staffing. Management has minimal control over compensation, so don't expect them to step up for you when comp time comes around.
Pros
Great benefits, well-respected company, you won't be rich working here but you will retire comfortably.
Cons
Limited growth opportunities outside of your department.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn the paths to different departments so that talent doesn't want to leave the company.
Pros
Very nice people to work with. Easy to make friends with co-workers. 401k benefits are great.
Cons
They do not paid fairly. It is who you know here, not what you know. There is a ton of overtime and make sure you keep track because they will rip you off. Like others say, it is like working in a sweat shop. Do not try and work here unless you are trying to get a job right out of college.
Advice to Senior Management
Need to learn to manage.
