Call center setting, lowest paying company in industry, overtime, and tax season is chaotic

    Pros

    Nice work environment, beautiful campus

    Cons

Used to have a good work life balance, but there are a lot of changes occurring, which makes a lot of employees question management. As with most corporate America jobs, it's a lot of politics, thy either like you or don't. Compensation is still below other companies in the industry.

I worked at T. Rowe Price full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly atmosphere, great starter job, availability to hop departments and become licensed. Excellent training programs.

    Cons

10 people in line to replace you. You are 100% replaceable. Salary is not competitive and merit increases are laughable.

    Advice to Management

Compensation - this needs to be realistic

I worked at T. Rowe Price full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked here from 2008-2010 during the recession. If you could network well and avoid the politics, you did well. The firm was pretty stable. We didn't take as big a downsize hit during the recession compared to other finance firms. Plenty of opportunity for overtime pay.

    Cons

Sometimes too much politics. If you aren't careful you can get type-casted in a negative way and your opportunities will be limiting.

I worked at T. Rowe Price full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great place to learn the business and get your licenses (especially because they will pay you and allow you to study at work!). Great people, I'll miss that the most. It's a very laid back atmosphere and as long as you are breathing, can answer a phone, and you don't step on toes, you have a very secure job. The benefits are great.

    Cons

There is little to zero growth available in the Tampa office, unless your ambitions include supervising a call center. I'm fairy certain the sole purpose of the Tampa office is a backup facility. It snows in CO and MD, shocking right?! Well, employees in those locations are let go early on heavy snow days every year and Tampa is there to hold it up. They allow a lot of great talent to walk out the door, and the worst part is I really don't think they care. The Tampa office hires mostly recent college graduates, so the inexperience in most departments is very high. Many individuals get their licenses and leave. There are actually 2 major companies in the city that offer virtually the same position with about 10% higher pay. Those that stay get hooked on the additional vacation hours they give you. Once you get to the 10 yr mark, you're a LIFER, there's no going back to 2 weeks vacation when you can get 20 vacation days. Just answer/dial the phone as much as you can and try not to laugh when they have annual meetings about trying to be about quality over quantity and then preach the exact opposite every other day that someone from Baltimore isn't in town.

    Advice to Management

You'll quickly learn as an employee in the Tampa office for T. Rowe Price, "Advice to Management" is a waste of everyone's time. It allows them to check off a box of a survey they sent out, then they just do whatever the next man higher up wants them to do.

I worked at T. Rowe Price full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with in the trenches-always will to do what it takes to get the job done. Culture of the company represents a youthful attitude with the old ideals that the company was founded on.

    Cons

The efforts are not always rewarded, citing that the pay grade is comparable with what's out there. Pay was not worth my long-term employment there, hoping that management would make good on their promise to level the pay scale.

    Advice to Management

Share the wealth. My department was just starting a life balance approach but, the hurdles of the security associated with a financial firm were difficult to overcome.
