I worked at TCF Bank full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company has been around for over 90 years and has many good benefits. Commission structure is simple, easy to earn, and working hours can be flexible. Working at TCF is a good starter job. Lots of learning opportunities.

    Cons

Staff are usually very young, unexperienced, immature, managers lack people management skills, and over all customer service is null and void.

    Advice to Management

Hire more customer service experienced staff, teach customer service practices, pay more and get more quality people.

I have been working at TCF Bank part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Looks good on a resume

    Cons

Not enough checks and balances, sales motivated, disorganized, haven't even gotten $1 raise since starting over 2.5 years ago.

    Advice to Management

Change everything. Be more positive. Focus more on the happiness of employees and less on taking money from customers.

  3. Under paid, but little responsibility. Its all about new checking accounts

    Pros

Fun work environment, Comfort in knowing that you wont be let go unless you really make a mistake.

    Cons

Low pay, very small annual pay increases.Significant turnover. Low incentive pay tied to branch performance. TCF has public image issues in the communities they operate, its sometimes difficult to say you work there when meeting new people

    Advice to Management

Take a look at the type of people you are hiring..do they really seem like bankers? Hire and compensate qualified individuals this will improve customer service and thereby improve TCF's image in the community
