I worked at TCF Bank part-time

    Pros

TCF is good at hiring people who are competent. Once hired, you must pass training with an 80% or better before you're put in an actual bank branch. Office culture is also good depending on who your Branch Manager is.

    Cons

Office culture is different based on the Branch Managers. There should be a unified culture among all branches. Depending on the pace of the branch (i.e. how many customers you see a day) you're not allowed to make much mistakes. Doing so could cost you your job if your Manager can't correct your mistakes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training should be able to be done remotely, therefore it doesn't interfere with helping customers and ensures that employees are able to understand TCF policies fully

    Pros

    Pretty Flexible
    Decent Co-Workers
You get the shifts you want

    Cons

Traning is terrible, you learn the bare minimum and learn the rest over months which leads to you doing a lot of nothing most of the time, and coworkers getting annoyed.
Pay is a lower than other banks

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach more than running transactions, it makes all the difference

I have been working at TCF Bank full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great place to start to learn about becoming a banker. Learn how to move up the corporate ladder.

    Cons

Low pay compared to industry standards. However the company takes many people with no experience in banking unlike other companies in the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at compensation to help current employees to stay loyal to the company. Focus more on lending to drive results rather than overdrafts or service fees. The company is headed in the right direction and the image is starting to change.
