    Pros

It is a great company where you are able to move up quickly. You also have a chance to meet some wonderful people and the bonuses are pretty nice.

    Cons

It is all sales oriented. If you can't meet your goal, then you're not gonna go far. Very political and low pay.

    Advice to Management

If someone can't meet their goal, help them instead of screwing them. Also, pay the employees better and commend them for what they are able to do.

    Pros

Great benefits, Excellent opportunity for growth due to the many locations and departments. Very good training and promote education overall. Their hours of operation have improved.

    Cons

The pay is not that great compared to other companies, policy and procedures change often with little notice to the departments that the policies affect.

    Advice to Management

Encourage your staff to go back to school. Train them properly when they come out of training. Keep them abreast of the new policies and procedures. Teach them courtesy and good customer service because that is not taught in new hire training.

  9. I absolutely enjoy working here. TCF is highly flexible with your hours/schedule.

    Pros

TCF Bank isn't very pick - they will hire just about anybody. As long as you have a solid job history, have minimal cash handling experience, and atlas 6 months of sales or in a sales environment, you're pretty much golden. Once you get in, they send you to a two week training class at either a corporate location OR a branch that hosts training. Even if this is your first time working in a bank environment, after the two weeks of training you will have a good idea about the expectations of your job on a teller drawer. In the middle of the second week of training, they schedule you one entire day at your branch you will be working at so you can observe, which i thought was pretty cool. It helps to make you not as nervous for your first day. Once you go back to training, you take a test, and as long as you pass (which everyone in my class did, as most people do) then you will receive your schedule for your first week for at your branch.

    Some PROS to TCF BANK?
    - Pretty flexible with scheduling
    - You get a base pay + Commission. Commission depends on if your branch meets certain goals opening accounts, among a few other factors. The biggest bonus I've seen is $200 for one month, but generally they were around $75-$100 per month
    - There are individual goals for checking OR savings accounts that you convince people to open. I believe it is 5 dollars per account, but trust me, it does add up.
    - The environment is pretty laid back, you get to build close relationships to the customers
    - TCF LOVES to promote from within. (because the higher positions also pay lower than other banks AKA anyone with experience probably won't apply at TCF Bank and if they do they would probably turn it down because the lack of pay) BUT.... Once you are promoted and promoted, then eventually you can work in a larger Institution.

Overall, even though after working for TCF for two years, and hating my job 4 days out of 7, I would still suggest young individuals to apply and take a shot in the banking industry because it is actually pretty fun.

    Cons

    - Open 7 days and MOST holidays
-The pay is not competitive, at all (hence great company for entry level experience)
    - Management is usually made up of young 20-somethings who are just trying to make a name for themselves and generally just really have no idea what is going on
    - You are over worked and expected to do a lot of the managers duties once you are there for a while (again, helps you gain knowledge and build your resume)
    - Each branch seems to do things their own way, back office doesn't seem to be on the same page
    - Your hard work generally will go unnoticed. So learn to pat yourself on your own back...But don't let it stop you from being a hard worker, because if you DO like the job/atmosphere, there are SO many other Banks and Credit Unions that will want you after you have atlas 6 months to one year at a financial institution.
