    Cons

    Pros

Great place to work and LEARN about sales/banking industry. 40 hours, incentive IF you hit your sales goals, which usually happens if your team works together well. Opportunities for advancement come and go. Great co-workers.

    Cons

Horrible communication between departments. Branch managers do not care about supervisors, generally push the work on their assistants and supervisors. HORRIBLE pay, tellers at Wells Fargo make the same amount as a full time supervisor. Too much stress, often take work home with you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate your management team, they get 75% of the accounts opened and do 75% of the work with 0% of the credit and no appreciation.

    Pros

The people in the branch were nice to work with.

    Cons

Hired me for a Lending Sales position that they decided to eliminate 4 months later because they only wanted to focus on Collections and ITIN loans. They closed the entire department and fired all of us.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior Management needs to look to the future before putting people's careers and credit in jeopardy.

I have been working at TCF Bank full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

This company is very good for a first job and introduction into banking. This is not a job where you should stay for a long time .

    Cons

You get very minimal training for your position. Being in a management position I had to train myself on sales, how to manage the branch, and operations. The company is very unorganized because there are not enough departments to help with needs you cannot complete in the banking center.

The worst part of my experience was being left to manage a branch without additional help. Once I was left as a supervisor to manage the branch for a month after my branch manager was fired (with no experience on how to take over his responsibilities). Another time as an assistant manager I was left to manage the branch for three months without a branch manager (he got transferred and they didn't bother to replace him). During this time I reached out to the regional manager who refused to send additional help).

The company is all focused around sales so customer service is poor. If you work at a slow location you are forced to go around to local business to try to get sales( almost none of them will let you come there).

Not to mention the pay is lower than any other bank

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change business focus to being number one in customer service. Increase employee engagement so there is less turn over.

I worked at TCF Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Work-life balance was better than other large banks. Flexible scheduling policies for call center work. Reasonable pay for type of work. Plenty of events and deals offered to employees through other local business affiliations.

    Cons

Only basic health care offered. Mediocre hiring practices. Pay could be better. Hard to defend fees and policies of the bank being that they're a small fish in a big pond with less to offer customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pursue more of a credit union approach to fee structure and invest more money in your online, mobile and ATM banking.

    Pros

My co-workers were cool. I started out as Part-time, and got full-time only because everyone was quitting and I threatened to quit.

    Cons

They will hire anyone, with experience or not. Little pay compared to other banks, just enough to have you stay a few more months. Even if you're a good teller, they won't recognize or promote you at all unless you open accounts. That's all they care about.
