Pros
flexible hours, relaxed atmonspher, very friendly and convenient.
Cons
low pay compare to other banks
Pros
Having worked at other financial institutions, I find TD has the best work-place culture which is impressive considering it's size. People are treated with respect. HR is real there. Opportunities for advancement are plenty. Most are not over-worked as the right amount of people are hired to get things done.
Cons
A little bit cliquey. Many promotions are based on who you know rather than what you do which isn't a good thing. Knowledge level becomes limited to few key individuals as a result. A little concerned with the impending departure of Ed Clark and how corporate culture might change after he retires and new mgmt takes hold.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote based on knowledge + management skills and not just on politics alone. Doing otherwise will slowly erode the company.
Pros
Flexible hours
Good people
Unique culture
Challenging and satisfying work
They listen to their employees
Cons
Some people don't carry their weight
Need to depend on several teams to accomplish a simple task
The odd clueless Project Manager can ruin your day (everywhere)
Cafe food is expensive and portions and quality are questionable :)
Advice to Senior Management
TMAP was an excellent concept but it's being executed horribly. It's going to take a very long time to recover from this misstep by Joe Monk.
Pros
Great career opportunities
Supportive Leadership
Good working environment with great employees
Everyone is treated with respect and they are taken seriously
Cons
One downside of working at TD is that some branches are open Sunday and it can really impede on social life and school work.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep on doing what you are doing to make TD one of the most respected and strongest banks in North America
Pros
Flexible hours. Some nice people
Cons
Management could care less about you. No help. Customer is always right even when they are blatantly wrong. Rude obnoxious supervisors and upper management.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the way they treat employees . Or high turnover rate
Pros
Free bank account is the only pro.
Cons
Long hours. Managers are only looking out for themselves. They have there own goals to meet making them not available for branch support. Hourly schedule is never given out in a timely matter (two weeks advance notice) they get it out 3 days before that new schedule work week should begin. Pay is the lowest out of all the banks.
Advice to Senior Management
They should not make store managers business development managers as well. They should have reps for that.
Pros
It's a job is about the only pro I can think of.
Cons
Forget about your PTO, referred internally as "Pretend Time Off"
Leadership is one of the worst you'll ever experience
No strategic vision
IT is a pure sweat shop
Healthy Life-Work Balance is non-existent
Advice to Senior Management
Overheard a senior manager with this quote, "At TD there are two types of employees - People on the roof top taking pot shots at the people below and people on the ground getting shot. It's good to be on the roof top".
Pros
Remote working flexibility, additional banking facilities
Cons
Poor management, no process, adhoc work
Advice to Senior Management
Implement process, treat employees fair
Pros
Extended hours availability
Various locations to work at
Sales Goal well communicated
TD Bank Pride Hyped
No Dull Moment
Cons
When training they jam pack more than necessary information into you. Expectations after training are unrealistic. They hype they care about employee too much but when you show a concern they quickly dismiss it and give you a "suck it up nothing is going to change" sugar coated talk. Getting what you need to start as a new hire is a long process. New ideas and thoughts are frowned upon by management. Good luck getting your 30min break even if working ten hour shift. Alot of mistakes with payroll and no notice if your schedule is changed. Just a "sorry" and no empathy how they're mistakes with payroll and no notice shift changes effect your own life and diminish your work effectiveness. They care more about customers and sales than the employee - No Balance.
Advice to Senior Management
New Hires are coming into a very competitive environment, they need time to adjust, and long hour days for them is not convenient or very smart. Small mistakes like payroll and no notice schedule changes effect their lives tremendously. When expected to work long hour days it diminishes effectiveness at work. If employees are working more than 6 hours without break they are working on empty stomach losing focus and concentration.
Pros
-Excellent PTO
-Benefits
-Fair hours
-Flexible schedule
-Fair employee communication (at the branch level only)
Cons
-Unfair pay disparities
-Lack of communication
-Expectations of "Typical Bank" sales goals
-Too many problems that need to be solved by Retail Service Support...CSRs could avoid being on hold while with a customer if they had more access at the branch level to helpful software
-Loan Processors are anything but helpful and available for communication
-Outdated computers/technology
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to be "big bank" like your actions lead others to believe, pay your employees fairly and appreciate them. A little communication goes a long way, especially when the change takes away responsibility at the branch level and designates a "back office team" to handle issues. Also, provide your staff with technology that won't constantly black out, freeze, and/or shut down several times a week...a little investment does wonders.
