Pros
Good Benefits
Gain Balance in work and life
Cons
No Flexibility
Poor Salary
No Growth and Career advancements
Advice to Senior Management
See talent in your own company rather than hiring from outside
Pros
Ability to work at different companies
Cons
Have to be pro active in finding my own jobs
Pros
- Good job availability
- Decent communication between recruiters and management
- Offer some computer based training to keep contractors skills competitive
Cons
- Charge high bill rate to employer, and pay their contractors way less than they are worth
If they charge $35/Hr to an employer...they will pay you half of that, or less
The money that you aren't getting paid goes to your recruiter+account manager bonuses
- No holiday or vacation pay
If you work directly for TEK, you get salary+benefits and vacation pay...contractors get none of this
- Very aggressive towards their contractors when they want to find work elsewhere
(if the recruiter or account manager finds out that you are looking for other opportunities, they will try to hold it against you or con you into staying with a sub-par contract - Mob Mentality)
- Horrible and overpriced benefits package
(not worth having, when you can find it cheaper on your own)
Advice to Senior Management
Stop underpaying your contractors. Get your recruiters to start being honest and work for their contractors...instead of just padding their "spread" and keeping the money made off the inflated bill rate.
Pros
Consultants are respected and treated just like regular employees. We are able to take classes, get health benefits, go on paid vacation and enroll in the 401K program....that's just great!!!
Cons
None... for the recruitment and account management team. As a company, consultants should be included in the bonuses program. Also, holiday pay would be great.
Advice to Senior Management
Bonuses and holiday pay, as well as, vacation time would be great for consultants... Thanks, keep up the good work.
Pros
Account managers and recruiters seem interested in keeping in touch with you about your contract, making sure you are happy working for their client. They also offer free training for their contractors.
Cons
The hourly rate they offer is often less than what you could get at another consulting company. I've worked for them on three contracts now, and all three of them paid less than the rate I told them I needed -- which was my bottom rate at other consulting companies. TEK typically paid $2 to $5 less per hour.

Pros
The recuriters really work hard to for you, When I need employeement they stepped up and really did there home work and help meet my needs.
Cons
The pay some times is less than what you want.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide bonuses to long term emplyees
Pros
Good at preparing you for interview with their client.
Cons
No expectation of stability, as you are a contractor.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more involved with contractor towards end of contract regarding new employment.
Pros
Working with the clients and technical professionals, you really get the chance to know them to better position yourself to help them in the long run. You dont need to hit your goals every week however to get promoted you need to hit it every quarter for two years straight. Also you get paid once a week which is very convenient.
Cons
Commission and base pay is very low, in fact other offices in the country in smaller metropolitans make more money then downtown Chicago, even though our cost of living is way higher. Its very cookie cutter and if you do not fit the mold you will not fit in the internal environment, and you will get pushed out. Your best friend will become your worst enemy. Also you feel like you constantly have to attend every happy hour or company outing which seem to happen at least twice a week. People eat, sleep, and breathe TEK which is fine for some however if you plan to have a life outside of work might not be a fit.
Advice to Senior Management
Some changes have to be made about the cattiness in the office. Downtown Chicago office is really run by the woman and there is constant drama, gossip, and backstabbing. Many of the Sr male managers do not know what to do thus why they keep loosing good recruiters. Also the internal recruiter and account manager relationships are poor at best, mentoring and leadership is hard to come by with most of the management staff. I feel like some changes need to be made and TEK will thrive once again. Overall its a wonderful company and I love what they stand for however, having the wrong work environment ruins your drive to come to work, thus why people are quitting.
Pros
It is a source of income for now. Our contact takes us out to lunch now and then, and we can discuss any issues we may have.
Cons
There is a sort of health coverage, but it is poor at best. They don't really provide much to the contractor beyond being the the agency Ericsson requires that we go through in order to get a position. They have not gone much beyond the minimum responsibilities of a contracting agency.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer real health coverage. I selected the best health plan you offered. Any health plan that pays out a maximum of $10,000 in one year is not legitimate health coverage.
Pros
Good pay and plenty of employment opportunities at several client companies.
Cons
Was promised a higher wage than was listed on my employment contract. When I confronted my recruiter they played it off as if I were wrong. A couple months after employment began I found out that I was the only one highered out of 8 people that was making less everyone else was making the same amount.
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that you are providing accurate information to your potential employees so that the initial perception of how you operate your company is a positive one.
