I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Weekly pay; no other "pros" to report.

    Cons

If you are new to TekSystems or the contracting world, prepare to get screwed over.

    Pros

Great short term contract with a big software company. Local support from recruiter was excellent.

    Cons

Remote vendor management lacked a bit. Only met sponsor in person once in six months. Felt like I was alone on an island at times but at least I wasn't micro managed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Bolster vendor support system.

I worked at TEKsystems full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They have a fantastic training program. The skills taught are phenomenal, you'll either want to buying or take the skills elsewhere to a different industry. If you want to be in the staffing industry, there is no other experience that has the same value within any other agency or internal company.

    Cons

Time. You have to put in time and perception to get to the title you want, but ultimately all titles within this company are stretched then. No one position allows you to truly specialize.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Save the Bay Area! Realize that this is the IT hub, and that people leave for 55/hr.

I worked at TEKsystems as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Work for multiple companies, traveling, most expenses are paid for. Tons of coworkers that can become great friends. Project Managers and Project Coordinators will stick their necks out for you to keep you on a project or get you a well paying one should you be let go from your current contract. They are approachable, will allow you to call them for whatever reason, anytime during the day, and let you vent frustrations should they arise. Recruiters are generous. Most will take time out to pay for and sit down to have lunch with you.

    Cons

Can be quite demanding to provide best customer service, but that isn't so bad as long as you have the mindset of performing the best job you possibly can. On part of the actual company requesting TEKsystems services, they have a tendency to change their minds a lot about what they want done, or sometimes have no clue, which can hinder your job as contractor. Sometimes getting in contact with your recruiter can be a hassle. I've personally gone months without hearing from mine. Really depends on who they are.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have recruiters set aside time to at least check up on those they have recruited. If it wasn't for not hearing from my recruiter for months on end, I would be more than satisfied with the company.

I have been working at TEKsystems

    Pros

Friendly staff who try to handle the on boarding paperwork.

    Cons

Staff doesn't know company policies and which have the greatest potential impact to consultants. Very little contact or reach out to consultants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set standards for communication with the consultants you place. Train your TekSystems staff so they know the internal policies better than the consultants who depend on them.
