I have been working at TEKsystems as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    1) You have a job
    2) You get money
    3) Did I mention that you have a job?

    Cons

    1) Non-chalance about HR and compensation issues
    2) Constantly reminds employees about "how lucky" they are to be "given the opportunity" that they gave you.
    3) Account managers take credit for your work, then turn around and say that you don't contribute enough, so as to prevent wage increases
    4) Offer to promote employees on present contract, increasing the workload you take on, but do not increase the wage you have -- state that any wage increases would be done "down the road" without presenting a roadmap as to when it would happen nor without key performance indicators given.
    5) They back-fill positions in Enterprise-level IT with people that could benefit from a year or three with Geeksquad

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1) Listen -- no, really LISTEN -- to employees, especially when you're coming in to a new contract and trying to "fix" the mistakes of the last group
    2) Do NOT undervalue your employees, then expect them to be grateful employees.
    3) Pay employees according to what you expect them to do

I have been working at TEKsystems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Descent pay, Supportive Account Managers, Helpful Team of Recruiters and AA's.

    Cons

Health Benefits are below average, no 401K match, Not enough Sick time, PTO and Holiday time off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide the benefits to consultants in order to encourage long term commitments by consultants that need the security provided by retirement plans with employer match, premium health benefits and the opportunity to earn additional PTO for vacation, etc. I would be happy to continue long term if I could get PTO increases and extra vacation days paid. Retirement 401K with match is important for long term consultants planning for a secure future.

    Pros

Responsible, professional, conscientious recruiting group. They have personable and kind personnel that are proactive, communicative and take initiative.

    Cons

It can take some time to get placed if you are not proactive in contacting them regularly for a status update for interviews because of the number of clients and potential resources.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you know you have talented resources but having difficulty placing them because of their resume, body language, interview skills; refer them to WorkSource for help and workshops.

    Cons

Base salary is low so starting out can be tough until you get a good network of people working for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'd like to see a bit higher starting salary for people and a higher cost of living adjustment for those in Seattle.

    Pros

I worked with a great account team, challenging position with employer that fit my skill set, and I felt like a valued member of the employer's team..

    Cons

I left position due to uncertainty: after 3 months the contract extension was on a month-to-month basis which did not allow me to plan for the future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to get contracts extensions on a longer basis - at least 3 month
