Pros
Great company, but if you want a job where you can sit back and relax a few times a day, take lunches, breaks whenever then client care is not for you. This job keeps you on your toes and despite the good pay for this position, its not for everybody and can break you down if you cannot adapt.
Client care is highly recommended for individuals who have come from an environment where high volumes of customers are serviced on a daily basis.
Cons
They could improve the computers a bit.
More lounges, food days..
Advice to Senior Management
No complaints so far..
Pros
Opportunities for growth, benefits and learning processes
Challenge, pay, advantages. Innovation and every tool available for learning. Good mission and vision, and good leadership up on the top.
Cons
Having been working for Telus for some 5 years, i would say that the company must try something new to differerenceate itself with the others.
Advice to Senior Management
Stay close to your team members and employees so they can feel cared for and respected. Give space too if necessary. A good balance is how all of us can move forward. Good understing for your employees.
Pros
Great new office space downtown, flexible work work styles (many employees work several days a week at home), fast-paced environment.
Cons
Compensation, often direction given by executives is unclear, bonus structure has been changed so that employees have been receiving less compensation every year for past 3 years.
Advice to Senior Management
People should be rewarded for their accomplishments. It often seems money is wasted when it could be invested in your employees.
Pros
- Received a discount on a phone, good part-time job for student, decent pay and a good environtment to work within
Cons
- There was a lack of opportunities to move up within the company from a sales associate level from the store level
Advice to Senior Management
- Create opportunities to move up within the company from the store level for sales associates in order to encourage development
Pros
Good benefits , Pay is alright and was a great place to meet new people and make friends. I would recommend to a friend.
Cons
Sales people on the street are micro managed and are expected to do an insane amount of daily and weekly reporting.
Advice to Senior Management
Encourage employees more and work on streamlining daily paperwork so that sales people have enough time on the street to be productive
Pros
People are great
management approachable
good pay
benefits really good
generally stable except layoff cuts
cutting edge Dev
training package fairly good
Cons
Not much really. They are a good employer and care about employees. Politics intervenes at times but that's true of a companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep going and keep trusting managers and employees to make the right decisions at the right level. Don't micro manage when times are tough.
Pros
great benefits, discounts, nice work environment
Cons
reactive not proactive, always under pressure to perform, outdated systems and processes
Advice to Senior Management
continue with fair process philosophy
Pros
It has great branding. Has leading technology in Canada. I think they really promote a spirit teamwork which means that they hiring great friendly people.
Cons
Organizational change is constant which sometimes is hard to deal with. In any large company there is politics and TELUS is no different
Advice to Senior Management
Darren has a bad imagine within the company. I think it would be good if someone decided to help him re-evaluate the way he treated his senior team.
Pros
work life balance, young professionals, multicultural, career development and online training
Cons
performance reviews are confusing and not objective
Advice to Senior Management
their should be a way for a mediator to be involved during the performance review process when their is conflict between the manager and their employee
Pros
You get to do rotations and try out different jobs at Telus. Rotations are great if you are coming from a university without COOP or if COOP didnt give you enough insight into what you wanted to do with your life.
You get to expand your network at Telus and if you are lucky meet some of the awesome people that are still in the company.
Cons
They say when you graduate from the BTLDP, you are very valuable to Telus but that is not reflected in salaries/ promotions.
Pretty much you get the same salary for the 3 years you are in the BTLDP. After you graduate you receive no promotion.
The salary they pay you when you are in the BTLDP is much lower than the market so after 3+ years of doing a job you are still making less than what you would have if you joined another company straight out of university.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay candidates better to attract and retain talent.
Have a proper succession and growth plan for high performers. They seemed to held back with no room to grow.
Promotions seems very arbitrary. Telus does not seem like a meritocratic culture.
