I have been working at THK America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The company enjoys a well-earned reputation as the world quality leader in linear motion technology. It's rare that an apology is ever needed in regards to perfomance or quality. An extraordinarily broad product line, adaptable to virtually any application, regardless of complexity or precision.

    Cons

Very little room for autonomy at any level. Managment culture is extremely untrusting. Internal IT systems and CRM are antiquated and incredibly cumbersome and time consuming.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Loosen the reigns and watch your people flourish and grow. Take some chances!

I have been working at THK America full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Highest quality product in the market. Many coworkers who can commiserate with your frustrations. Decent benefits package.

    Cons

Low pay for an industry leader. Outdated tools and software for sales team (still using Blackberrys from 2005, with the internet service blocked!). Excessive, redundant reporting that nobody reads, but still takes away from your time to do actual sales work. Poor upper management that is unresponsive to both employee and customer needs. Stubborn inability to adapt to American marketplace. Convoluted "incentive" plan, and inability to easily track sales and progress.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually pay attention to employee grievances during exit interviews,

    Pros

Have a good Plant Manager now. He cares but am scared they will not empower him to make the changes that need to happen. I hope THK understands that he is the key to change.

    Cons

Still a few dead weight Manager's that do nothing, low skill set and just want to get the day done with no waves and collect paycheck. Some Japanese Managers are left trying to do all the work with little support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Clean out the old dead weight Manager's that were brought in from old Plant Manager.
Look at what each Department Manager does and quite hiding the weak ones and promote the people that care about THK.

    I worked at THK America

    Pros

THK has the best quality linear products in the world. The company is stable because of this and because these products service all industries (automotive, medical, semi-con, housing, etc.). The company will always have a nitch business.

    Cons

President has no clue how to reduce low employee morale and high turnover. Sales is his only focus. He is losing many good employees because he doesn't improve salaries and benefits. Salaries and benefits have not improved in 10 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take surveys of the employees and listen to what they have to say in regard to their needs. Making them happy will increase your sales.

I have been working at THK America full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

reasonable compensation, great products, market leader

    Cons

President with zero experience in North America. American VP is a follower, not a leader. His "need to please" outweighs the need to "do the right thing!!". Hostile and accusation based management style. Very dysfunctional. Outdated benefit package.

    I worked at THK America

    Pros

Reasonable salary but no room for raise
Some co-workers who are on the same boat as you

    Cons

Micro-managing, sneakiness and toxic work environment. Very high turnover rate , cruelty to employees. Completely horrible!! Upper management, your boss will most likely treat you like a robot with no emotions. I never felt a sense of dignity or pride working here, and felt tormented. You will probably need therapy once the whole ordeal is finished.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to do some serious soul searching and infrastructural management change.
