    Pros

The company and leadership are very ethical and try to remain focused on the customer or participants.

    Cons

The non-profit status of the company may be the reason the company is not as innovative from a technology perspective. The company has had 3 CIO's in the last 5 years.

I have been working at TIAA-CREF full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

good benefits, recent efforts to facilitate internal job transfers seem to be working, financially strong organization that is growing

    Cons

huge compensation variations between management and front line employees, and in different business areas. Operations areas pay poorly unless you get to a Director level, the investment areas pay much better. They seem to overdo the whole affirmative action thing - minorities have advantages here.
