I have been working at TJ Maxx

    Pros

The people I work with make me feel comfortable and excited about coming to work.

I like the higher end brands we carry; you never know what to expect!

401k is also a nice incentive; free money!

    Weekly paychecks are always nice.

Breaks are really nice here. 6 hour shifts grant one a 45 min lunch break plus two 15 min breaks.

    Cons

Customers tend to take this place for granted and try to steal from us behind our backs.

There needs to be better handling of stolen merchandise and how easy it is at times for people to steal from us.

Minimum wage for entry level positions without a concrete way of giving incremental raises should be reviewed. If you are not at least a coordinator then you will probably be given the minimum starting wage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't push the credit cards too much on customers, unless the company can think of more creative ways then asking at the cash register during checkout. They will begin to resent it more each time.

Try offering more incentives than a 10% coupon. If there could be some form of consistency with special offers and promotions (such as monthly coupons) for cardholders they will be more inclined to sign up.

Work on placing cameras around the store more so people are more scared to try and steal. Give them harsh penalties when they do try to steal and make examples out of them.

    I worked at TJ Maxx

    Pros

I made enough money to make car payments and pay for gas while I was completing my bachelors degree. Some of my managers were kind and generally nice people to be around. I've heard about worse places to work.

The company seems to be doing well and I appreciate their overall rules for procedures and work time and their values when it comes to lgbt and other minorities.

    Cons

Even though I worked very hard and was serious about my job for six years, I never felt like my managers took me seriously. I got very little recognition for when I went above and beyond. I feel like older people sometimes got more recognition for simply doing their job.

People get hired and quit very frequently. This includes managers, so you constantly have to readjust to your job. Some of those managers and associates are very difficult to deal with... Just remember it's all temporary.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to remember that your employees are human beings too. Try to recognize the ones that are working hard. I had a couple great managers who talked to me about my life and actually cared about me and my family. I appreciated that. Some managers are sociopaths, so there is no way to give them advice for improvement.

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Get to meet amazing people, customers are usually super sweet, and breaks are fair.

    Cons

Breaks are too short, low pay, managers can be a hit or miss, understaffed a lot of the times, and the store is hard to keep clean.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Better pay.

    Pros

Dicks has variety of possibilities for me to advance and learn in the working field

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

early is on time , on time is late , and late is unacceptable . Work shouldn't be easy there should always be some sort of challenge within the working field.
