I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time for less than a year

    Pros

everyone in the working environment works together as a team and it makes your job easier

    Cons

when customers try to make returns of items that don't belong to our store and having to let them know that we are not able to take it can sometimes be a problem because the customer will sometimes pick an argument with u and if it gets out of hand then definitely call a manager to take over

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

they treat all employees fear I love working with them

I worked at TJ Maxx part-time for less than a year

    Pros

It was a fun place to work. I liked my coworkers and managers.

    Cons

Having to get credit apps is annoying. There are no raises or advancement opportunities. This job would probably work well for a college student in between or teenagers needing extra cash. You won't make a living wage.

I have been working at TJ Maxx full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Open communication; 45-50 hour work week; Unlimited potential for advancement; Recognition of hard work, motivation and determination.

    Cons

Moving from Merch Manager to Operations Manager is considered a lateral move, even though it comes with a lot more responsibilities, so it doesn't come with a pay increase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All in all, my experience with TJ Maxx has been very positive. Most co-workers have been very agreeable and the work environment makes leaving my family every day bearable. Given the opportunity, I can see myself making great advancements within the company. Thank you for the opportunity!

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Flexible schedule
    - Nice managers, for the most part
    - Cheap stuff to buy
    - Opportunities to be a coordinator, though who dont get compensation for that

    Cons

    - TJX credit card- you have to harass customers to get them to sign up for one
    - Store is always a mess
    - Understaffed, especially for closing hours
    - They like to hire weird/lazy people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Organize the layout of the store better, so that it wont get that messy in the 1st place.
Schedule as many people as you need.
Stop being lazy and stay at the registers to help your customers, instead of being down in your office -_-

I have been working at TJ Maxx full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They pay every week. Great company to gain merchandising experience first hand.

    Cons

Managers seem to only care about how fast you can get the truck processed and merchandise out on floor. I received little to no training due to the fact that they only care about merchandise. High turn over due to slave like work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    More training equals better employees

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time for less than a year

    Pros

I love working in customer service. The people I work with are great, we're all like a family. Most customers are nice and I love seeing the regulars and checking up on how their dog is doing or if their straightener worked out for them because of their bad haircut. Store is not too big, not too small. Easy to get others to cover your shifts and asking for time off is pretty easy. I am only here for the customers.

    Cons

Huge lack of communication! Sometimes I do not work for a full week and when I come back people don't tell me of changes or new operations and whatnot. Mangers can let power get to their heads. Too much stress on rewards credit cards. I have been at TJ Maxx for almost a year and work only as a cashier even though I have asked to be cross trained. Newer hires than me get more hours and work more departments than me. So frustrating!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better communication. Work on forming better relationships with employees. More chance to move up. Better raises. Fire corrupt mangers!
