    Pros

Great work/life balance, very flexible scheduling, great advancement opportunities, the store has many areas that you can work in so you can become cross-trained in different areas (unlike some smaller stores), they give great hours

    Cons

Lack of communication between members of management, very hard on you when it comes to selling their credit card (with very minimal return on your part, you aren't even compensated for selling a card, you're honestly just lining the bank's pockets as well as the higher-ups). Also managers like to play favorites.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with each other and do not make employees feel like they are incompetent if no one wants to open a TJ Maxx Rewards Credit Card (Can you truly blame them? The interest is over 20% and all the benefits go away and fees start rolling in as soon as you are late on a payment.) Also, it's good to acknowledge an employee by using positive reinforcement, but do not play favorites!

I have been working at TJ Maxx full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great salary / benefits / hours

    Cons

Usually out you in an area about an hour from home.

    Advice to Management

You are micromanaged from district and area leaders. Be prepared for unannounced corporate visits and serious discussions. No room for sense of humor and must always be on your toes. Welcome to the military.

    Pros

Really relaxed work environment, they usually don't require you do to much and the job isn't all that hard

    Cons

your hours tend to be extremely inconsistent if you're part time, one week you might work 25 hours the next 5

    Advice to Management

The hours need to be more consistent, nice work environment friendly coworkers and managers, but the hours should be consistent

    Pros

TJ Maxx is a great place to start your career and learn skills necessary to going forth in the workplace. The hours are good and the people are better.

    Cons

It's hard work and you have to deal with customers. Customers aren't always nice and sometimes they call the manager on you if you screw up.

    Advice to Management

Be nicer to your staff even if we are just kids. We work hard and we're just trying to learn so we can move on and get real jobs one day.
