I worked at TJ Maxx full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They made every effort to work around my schedule and give me extra hours when I said I needed them (or vice versa). I can overall say that they look out for their people and try to provide where they can. I was always offered additional opportunities in the company to advance. My manager was awesome and always offered help on the floor and always had my back if I knew I was in the right without damaging customer relations.

    Cons

The only drawback was not necessarily the company, but just individual workers. Some definitely worked much harder than others who earned the same paycheck and then had the nerve to complain when they weren't doing anything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe something could be done on the HR/recruiting side to ensure they are hiring better people or at least not putting up with existing employees because of seniority. Those who truly have the drive to work are the ones that will make the company successful.

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

They have an open door policy and the managers actually care to listen and take your concerns into consideration. They provide great feedback constructive and positive! They ask for the coordinators opinion a lot!

    Cons

Highly competitive with the hours! Raises are based on performance, however if you're late 8 times a year, you wont get a raise! Some of the sales floor associates act entitled and refuse authority.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give coordinators more movement and authority!

I have been working at TJ Maxx part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work is simple, basic retail environment.

    Cons

Minimum wage (it takes a VERY long time to get any kind of raise); very few hours, many employees are sometimes rude and unfriendly; poorly managed; LOTS of favoritism among employees and managers, which leads to unnecessary raises and promotions; always issues with employees' schedules, zero opportunity for advancement and growth for the employees who actually take their jobs seriously; most employees are high school and college students who would rather have a social life and not come to work with a hangover the next day, and when people leave and hours become available, instead of letting current associates have the hours, they would rather hire MORE employees to an already over-staffed store.
