    Pros

Some good people to work with.

    Cons

Lots of backstabbing going on. District supervisor manipulates reviews to control pay raises. Bonus plan continually changes throughout the year to control your earnings. Loss Prevention is given lip service; never there when you need them. Never trust upper management. It is always a cover your a** situation, even at your expense.

    Advice to Management

Remember that the most important people are the ones that operate your stores. Not the ones that think up ridiculous "initiatives" to justify their own position. Don't micromanage; you hire people to run your stores...thrust them to do the job properly.

    Pros

Clean store , nice surroundings, a lot of nice people to work with.

    Cons

Four assistant managers. Manager of your area had no input on their area's scheduling. Not allowed to attain full time status, hours cut dramatically when on the brink. A lot of in fighting between assistants.

    Advice to Management

Mangers need say on scheduling of their departments. The hiring manager should not rule the scheduling.

    Pros

If you have a good team, you're fine. Tend to overwork you and expect you not to have a problem with it (e.g. close with 5 people, clean 3 departments alone).

    Cons

The company itself is a joke: LP is non-existent, the suits up top don't give a damn and don't listen.

    Advice to Management

Depends on managers, some are amazing, and some don't know a damned thing about working with people or being good people.

I have been working at TJX Companies part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Co-workers, selection, busy sometimes, items for men, women, kids, and pets, home decoration merchandise, bedding merchandise, kitchen merchandise, friendly environment

    Cons

unorganized, lack of communication, no room for advancement, hard work is unnoticed, worked for this company almost 9 years and still only part time.

    Advice to Management

Notice the hard workers more, and give them the chance to advance first, and be more organized.

    Pros

Your contemporaries are amazing, and four days a week off! The pay and benefits aren't terrible, but not worth the stress.

    Cons

13+hour shifts, terrible work environment, sweatshop like. Poor decisions by an uncertain upper management group.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees, listen to their suggestions and ideas. Kneejerk reactions do not solve deep rooted problems, especially when you have high attrition and an under qualified labor pool.

Run, as fast as you can, from Talent Acquisitions

I worked at TJX Companies (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall, TJX seems like a great place to work. They are company based on relationships and really care about their employees. The benefits are great, as well as the compensation, and the work/life balance can't be beat. They have a really long tenure because they let people lead the lives they want to outside of work. If you're looking for in slower paced environment, and I mean extremely slow-paced, where you work a typical 9-5 and along side some really nice people, this could be a great place for you. Just stay away from Talent Acquisitions all around.

    Cons

Now on the flip side, TJX has some issues overall just like any other organization. It is an extremely siloed company, so nobody knows who is doing what or how to partner with other teams on projects. Add a really old-school mentality and a dash of terrible technology and you have a recipe for a really difficult time getting any projects done. TJX also needs to work on a diversity program and take it seriously. When I left it was barely talked about, and seemed to be an initiative to do just to do it. When in fact it is such an important topic with a real impact on the business. Now specifically to TA, what a mess. Have you ever watched a dog chase its tail for 10 minutes only to get distracted by a squirrel, and when it chases after said squirrel it runs into a tree because it's so disoriented? Me neither but that is the best way I can describe how Talent Acquisition functions at TJX. TA is rapidly expanding, new projects are being propelled at people who aren't prepared for them by any means, and when you think something is finally starting to work out the senior leadership changes directions on a whim and you have to start at square one. Finally, remember all the nice things I said about work/lilfe balance and leadership really caring about your development? That doesn't apply to this department because senior leadership is a stark contrast to those fundamental ideals, and the goal is to bring in other people who don't fit into this company and move people who do out of it.

    Advice to Management

You aren't going to fix TA over night but make sure you hire leadership more aligned to your culture.

    Pros

The prices of the merchandise is fair. The quality of the merchandise is fair. The people are good. Management is fair.

    Cons

The problem is that unless you have the personality of a lion and the fearlessness of an elephant, you aren't going to go very far.

    Advice to Management

Please work with the mice in your store and build them up.

    Cons

Location is not IN boston. It's in framingham. The drive can be tough, but going opposite way of most traffic.

I have been working at TJX Companies part-time

    Pros

Great environment to gain retail experience. Very diverse customer base. If you have a full time job, this is a cool second job.

    Cons

You work several positions but you aren't compensated. There is a high turnover rate because so much is expected of you with little incentives. Not a job for people who have responsibilities.

    Advice to Management

Show your employees you appreciate them. Try to find better ways to reward employees. Great employees go unnoticed and they may feel unappreciated.
