I worked at TMI Hospitality full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They have good benefits, great values, earn vacation per pay period, and they really value their employees.

    Cons

The only con that I had working here was the lack of promotional opportunities in my area. However if I wanted to move a couple hours away I would have had more. It just wasn't feasible for me and my small children.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It's a job... Other than that, nothing positive stands out from any other hotel management company I've worked for in the past.

    Cons

No 401k, benefits are bare minimum, compensation is far below other companies especially given the amount of responsibilities you are expected to fulfill.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your people more, or expect less out of them. People like myself, who happen to like the line of work I do, don't mind doing going above and beyond, but when it is expected that you spend every day of the week on-property and doing more than the General Manager (who is allowed to get by doing beyond the bare minimum-yet gets paid $15,000 more than me) you should at least compensate individuals in these roles with more than the "invaluable experience" we are gaining.

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

I made a lot of good friends at corporate and other hotels in my area. I had a lot of great people working for me and felt like we were a family. Things may have gotten crazy but we stuck it out together.

    Cons

Pay was way under industry standard and, as other reviews have stated, they are too cheap to hire full time laundry or give you a budget that enables the desk coverage you need on busy nights. The only time upper management acknowledged anything at the hotel was when our scores/revenue dropped a little bit. No recognition when we did well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stand up for your GMs and give them what they need to run a successful hotel. Great service goes a long way but not the whole way. Actually appreciate your employees, don't just preach it. And make sure Area Directors do as well.

Local management on property maybe fine, but watch TMI upper management. Cut throat. Ruthless.

I worked at TMI Hospitality full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Local hotel and that's about it

    Cons

Low pay. They hire inexperienced people and train them minimally. High turnover for housekeeping and front desk. The company is growing and the bottom line is ALL IMPORTANT, not the people. Google Gary Tharaldson and you will see the basis for this company and it's structure. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Local management: don't be fooled, you are overworked and underpaid.

    I worked at TMI Hospitality

    Pros

I can not think of any Pros. The company is selling to another party and the ESOP program goes away.. on the other hand, at least they will pay it out to the people who are working their and will fully vest any associate employed at the time of pay out. Down side is, it will take up to a year or more to finalize and pay it out.

    Cons

Long hours, significantly lower pay than industry standard for area, little support from upper management, lucky to get a day off or heaven forbid a vacation and micro-managed to the point of front desk and even managers having to do laundry because they don't want to hire full time laundry person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend a week running a hotel at the lower levels (ie: front desk, laundry and housekeeping)

    Pros

Schedule, easy system, learn new tasks

    Cons

Low pay rate, have to do laundry as part of your job description as their are not enough housekeepers, very high staff and management turn-a-round, horrible management and paychecks not accurate at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wipe out all of Lewisville area management and start over.

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Vacation accrues pretty fast. Decent coworkers.

    Cons

Management sucks! The hire ups suck as well. They are constantly changing things and never appreciating the employees. Guests are what keep the business but us housekeepers & front desk are what keep them coming back!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen your workers. Appreciate the extremely hard work we do! You don't clean rooms or get screamed at by guests. At some I hope some of you were at the bottom and worked to where you are now. And that being said is true, remember what that felt like.

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The company is great, ESOP benefits and vacation time even as a front desk employee. Management is very easy going.

    Cons

Wage is low as compared to hotels in the area and they will not allow overtime even when extra coverage is needed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Show appreciation to your employees
