I have been working at TMI Hospitality part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work by myself and slower pace to get more work done.

    Cons

Most communication is done by pass on logs and not direct. The hotel is an older hotel and needs updated.

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I am now part of a team that I dreamed about, did not know I could find! The things you say to yourself in other places that you WISH you had in a work environment, and ITS HERE. I love going to work again, I lose sleep thinking of what tomorrow will bring, Mondays are exciting! Work load for the hard working is fine, family balance is ALL HERE

    Cons

little less pay than I am used too, but it is comparable to other like sized properties, but I hope to prove my worth and drive to address that bit by bit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

keep growing at a steady pace- you have a WINNING corporate team and property level talent unmatched in the industry- please don't expand too fast- the health of your winning recipe is solid and fast expansion can decimate infrastructure

Low pay! Unqualified Regional Managers who harass staff

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

ESOP program but the company is in escrow and the ESOP will be terminated. Hotel level staff seem to really bond well together and depend on each other partly due to the way they are treated from regional staff.

    Cons

Regional staff is harsh, micromanages all employees, expects a lot but give very little support and are unethical. They make rash judgments with little to justify. They will throw any staff under the bus to CYA. They lead with fear.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

VP's take a second look at the regional mangers you have as the face of TMI don't be blinded by smooth talkers. You will miss out on good, honest, loyal hardworking employees who are the real money makers. Cut the middle man, counterproductive!!!

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It's a job... Other than that, nothing positive stands out from any other hotel management company I've worked for in the past.

    Cons

No 401k, benefits are bare minimum, compensation is far below other companies especially given the amount of responsibilities you are expected to fulfill.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your people more, or expect less out of them. People like myself, who happen to like the line of work I do, don't mind doing going above and beyond, but when it is expected that you spend every day of the week on-property and doing more than the General Manager (who is allowed to get by doing beyond the bare minimum-yet gets paid $15,000 more than me) you should at least compensate individuals in these roles with more than the "invaluable experience" we are gaining.

I have been working at TMI Hospitality full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I made a lot of good friends at corporate and other hotels in my area. I had a lot of great people working for me and felt like we were a family. Things may have gotten crazy but we stuck it out together.

    Cons

Pay was way under industry standard and, as other reviews have stated, they are too cheap to hire full time laundry or give you a budget that enables the desk coverage you need on busy nights. The only time upper management acknowledged anything at the hotel was when our scores/revenue dropped a little bit. No recognition when we did well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stand up for your GMs and give them what they need to run a successful hotel. Great service goes a long way but not the whole way. Actually appreciate your employees, don't just preach it. And make sure Area Directors do as well.

I worked at TMI Hospitality full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They have good benefits, great values, earn vacation per pay period, and they really value their employees.

    Cons

The only con that I had working here was the lack of promotional opportunities in my area. However if I wanted to move a couple hours away I would have had more. It just wasn't feasible for me and my small children.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the great work!

    Pros

Local hotel and that's about it

    Cons

Low pay. They hire inexperienced people and train them minimally. High turnover for housekeeping and front desk. The company is growing and the bottom line is ALL IMPORTANT, not the people. Google Gary Tharaldson and you will see the basis for this company and it's structure. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Local management: don't be fooled, you are overworked and underpaid.
