Pros
Constantly changing, very dynamic and very customer focused
Cons
Lacks clear approach to strategy formulation, does not trade off where to focus. Tries to perform in too many markets - "jack of all trades"
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on the customers you really want and execute.
Pros
TNT is an international company and provides job security, with the options of taking on new challengers. With the flexibility to tranfer to almost anywhere is also an added bonus.
Cons
There are areas where in some things could be more equal at all the depots throughout australia, But nothing much more.
Advice to Senior Management
i guess all i would suggest is that where possible, to reward hard workers, and maybe offer more support for community events
Pros
Nice colleague
Good environment to learning about Mail business
Giving chances to involve in a big project
People are very open and willing to help
Cons
The company is not that ambitious, completely different with Deutsche Post DHL
A bit late to adapt with new technology to compete with DHL in global market
Advice to Senior Management
Revise the recruitment systems. When I was there, the recruitment for management program is still in dutch and for dutch speakers only. I hope TNT will change it to make it more competitive so the best talents from other countries can also join with TNT.
Pros
camaraderie amongst the lower level staff
Cons
lack of competent management that support and promote from within
Pros
good working environment and life work balance
Cons
remuneration package is not on the same level as DHL or Fedex
Pros
Very friendly staff
Professional and courteous management
Generous benefits package
401k matching
Environmentally conscious organization
Plenty of room to advance
Additional vacation time after 3 years
Cons
Lower salary range compared to competitors
Pros
Direct line managers care about their employees
No opposition to taking vacation days even if requested last minute
Star employees are recognized and rewarded with raises and promotions
Rewards and recognition program is overall pretty good
If you are the type of person that would like to find a company you can stick around for the long haul and retire in, then this is the company. We have a number of employees that have been around for 20+ years
Decent benefits coverage for dental and health (not the best but certainly not the worst)
We were able to avoid layoffs during the economic downturn
Very diverse culture and community
Despite the below cons, the company employee engagement score is very high
Cons
Lack of technology is appalling. Only this year have we started using scanners for shipments.
Many process are documented on personal spreadsheets rather than actual information systems
Senior management focuses on penny pinching rather than understand the ROIs of certain investments (ie its people)
Senior team is rarely visible and their only focus is what goes on in the Operations department
Pay and compensation is not competitive to the industry
Much of the culture is still entrenched in the old shool transportation industry where the all the effort and focus went into pushing freight rather than improving the surrounning and supporting activities
With this old school culture comes a greater difficulty for women in the company to prove themselves and be taken seriously
Innovation is stagnant despite the numerous opportunities available
Advice to Senior Management
Become more visible to the employees not on the senior team. Listen to what they have to say about ways to improve the company. There are some ideas out there that may prove valuable to a company.
It may be surprising, but Operations is not the end-all-be-all. It is only one component to the organization
Just because the ROI of something isn't immediate does not mean it isn't important.
Pros
If you are looking for a long term career with little reward for your work but a cushy job where you don't have to work very hard, this is the job for you.
Cons
TNT are years behind the technology of other companies, some computers are still running Windows 2000, and it takes a long time to get anything done within the IT department.
Advice to Senior Management
TNT leadership is good but much more needs to be invested in the middle management who seem to just coast along.
Pros
Job was relatively easy as long as I watched the details. 1. keep track of inventory minimum 2. ensure that production quota is on track 3. make sure that trucks are loaded and product delivered on time
Cons
Times of rather high stress: during launch period, working out organizatin and best practices; also when inbound trucks were running late, also when outbound trucks were running late.
Advice to Senior Management
make good hiring decisions to ensure that operation runs smoothly and contracting company remains happy so that contract is renewed.
Pros
Excellent work enviroment, ISO Certified, interal/external relationship and support above average.
Cons
Company laying off 20,000 union and non-union employees.
Advice to Senior Management
None.
