Lack of Focus and Forward Thinking Sales Leadership

    Project Team Member (Current Employee)

ProsTOA has top notch technical people and developers. The product is a world beater and "Best in Class".

ConsSales Leadership has a "Used Car" sales mentality and drops price for almost any reason. If you do any sales analysis on most of the Account Reps or Relationship Managers, you will find that it is almost a mind set that TOA should not be making any Implementation or Change Request fees from the customer.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure to protect sales by doing the due diligence as far as contracts. The company lost a ton of money on Time Warner Cable because it failed to protect itself contractually and then when TWC got purchased, the sale was cancelled. Top executives should have been dismissed over this instead of the implementation team involved as the team did everything that was asked of it.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Good product

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsA SaaS/Cloud/turnkey product that works well. Contractors well compensated.

ConsProduct needs lots of tweaking to perform well, and also depends upon a sometimes hostile workforce to succeed. Contractors are randomly denied access to technical documentation. Arrogant and trigger-happy executive mgmt doesn't understand that it's not just the product, it's the implementation and the customer relationship as well. A 21st century product demands 21st century implementation practices, not an outdated waterfall methodology that encourages excessive documentation, meetings, and therefore only serves to provide managers w/ something to manage. Hyper paranoid about security. New customers get all the attention and therefore all of the resources. 24/7 "always on" culture discourages improvements in efficiency.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop sending fake spam to your employees, it's painfully obvious. Overwork leads to poor performance, burnout, and excessive turnover. Stop micromanaging - does the co-founder really need to approve a biz req's doc? Doesn't he have anything better to do? Do not try to intimidate your employees. Do not EVER accuse an employee of lying unless you can back it up. And NEVER, EVER do this in front of other employees, after hours, while you have a beer in your hand. It's extremely unprofessional and also, lo and behold, leads to excessive turnover. Finally, to insist that employees scrub their LinkedIn profiles of TOA client names because of legal concerns is completely idiotic.

    Interesting technology, reactionary management.

Enterprise Sales Director (Current Employee) Beachwood, OH

Growing company, but lacks focus and strategy

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Cleveland, OH

    ProsHard working, dedicated co-workers
    Global company
Cloud-based SaaS model with annual recurring revenue

ConsManagement weak. Leadership not empowered to make decisions. No long term planning-

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement needs to get out into the field more often, meet with customers and prospects. CEO needs to be a visionary and stay away from day-to-day operations- Stop dangling the IPO "we're all going to make lots of money" carrot and start giving some bonuses.

    Bad for employees

Business Analyst (Former Employee) Beachwood, OH

ProsHas potential if owners and directors cared a bit more for their employees

ConsTechnical center and developers are based in Ukraine and operates as a different company. Communication between the main company and the TC can severely impact service delivery.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop denying you are not the best and put some effort into employee retention. If you treated them better they wouldn't leave as much and you wouldn't have to be training new employees. This translates into more time ramping up and low customer satisfaction.
The CEO should spend more time caring for his subordinates than saying he does.

Busy company, but lacks direction and focus

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Beachwood, OH

ProsFantastic coworkers who make the job fun. Different cultures from all over the world keeps it interesting. Always plenty of work to do, and most of it is engaging.

ConsOverworked with no reprieve. Waits too long to hire help. No management concern for scales of economy and automation. It's all about the next sale, with little concern for anything else. 100% travel.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet someone in who can lead the company. Hire where it makes sense. Don't grow too fast. Don't be so concerned with appearances. Focus more on employee morale.
