I have been working at TOTAL full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

For the industry pay is fairly competitive, annual bonus structure, flexible work schedules

    Cons

No career growth unless you are viewed as "key staff". HR and management will only work to develop the careers of those who are favored. HR staff is full of younger people who are very immature and if they do not like you they will make you feel it. Management can treat their staff with disrespect and the Executives will back management no matter what. As the years have passed I have noticed the decline in moral and increase in resignations. I blame HR and management for how they set the tone for the office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All employees should be treated as key staff and shown respect. Once upper management stops showing respect to others this bleeds down the chain and creates a visible difference in the company.

I worked at TOTAL as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

TOTAL is the best company in the world wide and quality standard, performance time schedule are very strictly followed by total in all discipline ,also safety is excellent at all time

    Cons

they will give independent response for each person to work with quality and human safety point of view

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

once we work with total and their best standard ,we would like to continue with total but getting the opportunity is very difficult for next project (because we are worked through agency (for example i was through CEGELEC-Abu Dhabi and worked as a electrical supervisor for total in Yemen for last 8 years, now i would like to work again with total, but their is no job call from total )
so if their is any job opportunity total has to call back the people even who are worked through agency because they are very familiar with total standard and policy ,so it can help both side to maintain the quality and achievement.,
so please i am requesting you to give continues opportunity for the agency employees

    I worked at TOTAL full-time

    Pros

Overall, the company is very stable and offers decent compensation compared to other companies. Internal/lateral movement is encouraged and training is generally readily available. If you're nearing the end of your career and don't want any responsibilities, then this would be an excellent place to retire with minimal stress. The benefits are good (401(k) match, vacation, medical, etc.) but there wasn't an employee stock purchase option or even stock options.

    Cons

Bonuses are highly contingent on how well/poorly the company (as a whole) does, so bonuses are almost nothing some years. Moving up from one job scale "band" to another is almost impossible after being hired, so ALWAYS negotiate for one level beyond whatever you're initially offered. Company tends to move and make decisions very slowly. Most decisions are made out of France and they look down upon Americans as 2nd class citizens, so there is little opportunity for creativity/innovation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Act like a global company and recognize the talent in other countries.
