I worked at TRC Companies full-time for more than 3 years

I worked at TRC Companies full-time
Pros – Great Co-workers, good entry level experience
Cons – No inside promotions, no growth, expected to do WAY beyond what your job description entails with no extra compensation or even a 'thanks for the hard work'.
Advice to Senior Management – Promote employees internally before looking outside. Take time to EVALUATE your employees and see if they have any concerns. Pay your employees what they are worth, not what YOU feel like they are worth. And most off, take time to at least tell them you appreciate them. It doesn't take one person to build a company, it takes all of us.

I worked at TRC Companies
Pros – TRC allowed me to pursue my interests and clients and was a good place to work. They also provided for decent life balance with sufficient supervisor coordination.
Cons – Communication from senior management could have been better. Decisions were made that had major effects on employees without any prior employee communication or requests for feedback.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay closer attention to the only assets you have - people. When making decisions, do not keep the cards so closse to the vest.

I have been working at TRC Companies full-time
Pros – The talented people that actually do the work! TRC has intelligent, innovative technical professionals. extremely skilled and solving problems and crafting solutions for clients.
Cons – Utilization is top priority and focus. Integrity, quality, safety, service all take back seats to the almighty U. Internal BS makes it extremely difficult to perform job for the client. Regional and office P&Ls make collaboration difficult if not impossible. Bonus' are based on solely on value to the office manager, unit leader, not value to the company. TRC is run like lots of separate tribes with lack of common purpose or vision. Believe CEO is trying to change this, but metrics don't motivate changing behavior.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to your people. Practice what you proclaim. Be honest with yourselves and employees.

I worked at TRC Companies
Pros – Multiple business units, and each one was free to do its own thing. Performance, work - life balance, reviews, opporunities for advancement, most things of that sort were driven primarily by your unit and the unit in which I wored was relatively good in my opinion.
Cons – Multiple business units, and each one was free to do its own thing. While that gives you a certain "small company" culture, it also essentially amounts to a tax on business unit revenues and profits taken by the mother ship, with no clear corresponding benefit.
Advice to Senior Management – Senior management has changed since I worked for the company so I am not in a legitimate position to offer advice.

I have been working at TRC Companies
Pros – There's room to grow for self-starters, and a lot of flexibility in structuring your career path. You work with some talented people across the country, and with cross-discipline teams comprised of folks from private and public sectors. It's a good place for people who want to manage their own careers and who don't need much feedback or support from their superiors.
Cons – Management and human resource decisions are made ad hoc and then incompletely communicated to staff. Human resources staff and benefits change annually. Internal IT services are not dependable.
Advice to Senior Management – Over the past five years, almost three quarters of the employees in the businesses TRC bought up have left company to found their own businesses. They seem to be doing quite well. Maybe there was something you could have done to retain those employees or to attract employees of that caliber to the company?
