    Review of Tristar Risk Management

I worked at TRISTAR Risk Management

    Pros

This company has very good time off policy.

    Cons

Tristar seems to be on a shoestring budget and the benefits are not great.

I worked at TRISTAR Risk Management full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed there computer software program. It was very easy to learn and kept wonderful records of my cases, etc.

    Cons

Management is immature and clicky. Too much frickin' gossip too. Corporate is too worried about making money to really take their employees into consideration. I have a terrific work ethic but it was continually taken advantage of.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give a darn about your employees. All Senior Managment should take a course to up their people skills and learn not to bully their employees but to encourage their deveiopment and growth.

I have been working at TRISTAR Risk Management full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

flexible work schedule. Good employees -team work

    Cons

Lost major acct they have had for over 25 yrs Pending layoffs.. Need to feel appreciated by upper mgmt, not just a number. Very high caseloads, not enough time to get job done.Unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit obtaining substandard accts just to have a national footprint. It is draining the company of its resources. They are substandard for a reason-focus on quality of accts, not quantity.
Trust, value and respect your employees-they know the acct better than you do. EE recognition/incentives would go along way in improving morale.

I worked at TRISTAR Risk Management full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Other than having okay computer software, I can not think of any.

    Cons

Benefits were absolutely the worst and they were expensive.
    The pay was below average.
    Caseload's were too high.
Did not provide adequate training on new laws.
Management expected you to work overtime, without pay & their expectations were way to high. Management showed little respect for employee's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to treat their employee's with respect. Reduce the examiner's caseload's. Provide better pay and benefits to your employee's.

I have been working at TRISTAR Risk Management full-time

    Pros

I applaud Senior Management for having a great sense of direction and focus; many work arduously to ensure that we are providing the best service possible, which results in not only new clients, but also client retention, thereby increasing job security for employees. Management is affable and responsive, so communicating concerns or issues to superiors is in no way frowned upon or intimidating. Coworkers are also friendly and helpful, I've been able to establish many long-lasting friendships at work. TRISTAR is expanding which means more job opportunities.

    Cons

There are always little complaints one can find about almost any company, such as an issue with a certain individual or the coffee not being provided by Starbucks or Caribou (haha), but, collectively, I have no notable complaints that should reflect poorly upon this company. If you do your job as an employee, they will do theirs as an employer.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at TRISTAR Risk Management full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They always seem to be hiring, but there's a reason for that.

    Cons

Poor benefits. The cost for health insurance for employee and spouse is several THOUSANDS of dollars out of the employees paycheck each pay period. Benefits are bottom of the barrel. Unless you're in desperate need of a claims job, look elsewhere. A high case load.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees like assets rather than a business expense. If you want to be the employer of choice, like you say you do, then you would not provide such lousy benefits.

    Pros

I really can't think of any

    Cons

Horrible benefits......... Volume of workload is way too high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat and pay employees better. Employees do not have reasonable work loads. The benefits provided are awful and costly. The benefits, including the time off policy, are probably one of thee worse if not thee worst in the industry and no one would believe what I have to pay for them. Employees are the ones who are servicing your clients and determing the success of your business.

Former Employee - Senior Adjuster in Santa Ana, CA

I worked at TRISTAR Risk Management

    Pros

If you can negotiate higher pay - but then they will dump an unrealistic workload on you. In my case they expected me to provide status reports for employers on 180 cases all in a span of 6 weeks and so I found myself working overtime until 12 midnight on weekdays and working even on weekends just to finish, without getting paid overtime. Management also does not welcome negative feedback even if it is for the purpose of improving things. If you do, then beware!

    Cons

They expect you to work overtime with no overtime pay. They also provide minimum training so it's up to you to read new legislation on your own and to pay for additional classes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They have forgotten how it is to be an adjuster and they expect you to do everything and yet do not give the support and assistance to get the job done
