Pros
The products are interesting and the equipment is high end,
Cons
Poor benifits, high end of cost of living increase is 3% (neg with benifit increase) Low bonus during record profits (2% average). Facility is deplorable & dirty. extremly high number of contract foreign workers with poor english and no work experience. Minimal & discouraging growth within the company. Poor training, improper staffing for programs, long hours, senior managment does not provide a clear path. constant push to use oversea's,
Advice to Senior Management
Cut the red tape on promoting within, stop bring foreign workers over with no experience unable to speak english, Stop waiting to see what other companies are doing before you make a decision or providing a benift to the internal workforce. Stop waiting for employee's to hand in notice to keep them. Do something about the facility and air quality. Provide a compeditive wage & benifits. Have a clear path to train new employee's.
Pros
It pays the bills. Some good connections made over the years. If your in the "click" your good to go.
Cons
You must be in the "click" to get promoted. Recognition no longer exists, a slice of a $5 pizza doesn't show much senior support.
Advice to Senior Management
pull your head out of your a**, treat people as if they truly have value to you and your dept
Pros
Good working enviornment, Management flexible for time-off, Quality engineering exposure, exposure to work with good talent around, good 401K match - 6%
Cons
Not very good insurance - if you spouse is working, you pay high fee to add her, base salary is okay - not higher than industry average ( negotiate at the time of offer)
Advice to Senior Management
Need better bonus to the lower level - More profit sharing required. Work environment is good. Better salary structure required.
Pros
The people that I provided customer service to at the different TRW locations were great to work for. As well as there were a lot of team members at my location that cared about their work. There is alot that you can learn on this job and take with you for your own personal career advacement.
Cons
Workload is too much for the number of employees due to today's economy and down sizing. There is a lack of recognition for employees with no degree who have been doing the job well for many years for less pay. Promotion or advacement within the company only exists for an elite few so many good people are walking and taking their knowledge with them.
Advice to Senior Management
Corporate Headquarters needs to take a look at the TRW as a whole and the current Management and how things are being run and if it makes proper business sense for the future of the company. TRW also needs to respect employees & reward them for a good job.
Pros
The philosophy is to fill the jobs necessary to run the company. One can find many that are working in a same position or department for a long period of time. If you are OK to settle down and do a good job in a position, it is completely acceptable unlike other companies I have worked. The company's senior executives are great leaders that has done a fantastic job managing the company through the economic downturn. A lot to observer and learn...
Cons
Not a very active career development process, almost impossible to find out what opportunities are available to pursue. There's almost no professional training opportunities to improve peripheral skills.
Pros
Excellent supplier of automotive safety systems. Handled the recession in a manner that was good for the long-term. Good company.
Cons
Challenging work load because of TRW's lean philosophy. Benefits are less than competitive, yet adequate for most. Limited career growth opportunities.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate, communicate, communicate. Stop seeing employees as only commodities and see them as resources. Too many leaders are worried about looking effective instead of being effective.
Pros
You have the opportunity to learn all aspects of the business. There is so much change after just a few years you will have been able to work in Quality, Engineering, Operations, Logistics, you name it.
Cons
TRW posts an increase in profit in 2010 of 1,172% and I'm still waiting to get my 401k contribution back.
Advice to Senior Management
I have no reason to believe the leadership at TRW Automotive has much interest in what I might have to say.
Pros
Growing the business, stock price improving, nice 401K plan
Cons
Less than competitive health beneifts, high cost
Advice to Senior Management
When the company has a profitable quarter / year, share the bonus pool with ALL employees, not just the salary group.
Begin to invest in local communities, charities to build community support for TRW.
Pros
Get the experience in global manufacturing and supply chain mangement
Cons
Not flexible enough and need more aggressive managment team
Advice to Senior Management
Jump out from the existing frame and be more innovative and aggressive
Pros
short drive from home to work
Cons
poorly structured. poor support. poor compensation
Advice to Senior Management
show more respect to employees
