Former Employee – worked at TSA (Transportation Security Administration) full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The people are great within the organization. I have never seen such dedicated personnel. They are there to protect the citizens' of our country while they travel. I personally call them, defenders. I have been exposed to the military and I understand what it means for discipline, focus and structure and the hierarchy that goes with it.
Cons – The workplace area can be claustrophobic where there is high concentrations of passengers in a central location, the conditions make for a very disturbing and stressful day for everyone. Insufficient time and training for study protocol of standard operation procedures. Must stop intimidation tactics and provide easy-going, step-by-step, environmental training. Leadership must provide support when times are needed for study and to understanding processes and ask questions without going through osmosis and diffusion.
Advice to Senior Management – Management should remain consistent when executing new procedures and policies. Present enough time-sharing and study-renewal for employee personnel. Communication is key to retaining employees and lowering recidivism, also consider incentives.

Current Employee – been working at TSA (Transportation Security Administration) full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – The best reason to work for the TSA is access to federal government benefits. Check OPM.gov to see whats available. Another pro is chance to see things from behind the scenes in an airport.
Cons – At many airports there is poor management, employee communication is strained, and policies and procedures are unclear. The perception is that we are understaffed during peak periods, giving the impression that we are not staying consistent with airport growth.
Advice to Senior Management – Standardize processes across the entire agency. Hire full-time Officers instead of starting people off in Part-time positions. Ease the process for Officers to lateral between positions.

Current Employee – been working at TSA (Transportation Security Administration) part-time for more than a year
Pros – Federal benefits. It pays more than most retail.
Cons – Terrible management, terrible hours, very little reward for the work required. Illiterate managers and supervisors. Rampant sexual harassment problems but the management does nothing to fix the problems. Breaks are usually skipped. Management uses intimidation tactics to control employees.
Advice to Senior Management – All managers need to be re-evaluated for their jobs. Managers need to have some people skills.

Former Employee – worked at TSA (Transportation Security Administration) full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Federal Government jobs pay well.
Cons – The work environment created by management is a nightmare. This agency is always ranked among the bottom 3 government agencies in employee morale.
Advice to Senior Management – Focus on your people. Think about what is best for them, not just what is best for management.

Former Employee – worked at TSA (Transportation Security Administration) full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – - Overall a great bunch of people to work with
- Decent benefits
- Decent pay for the work required
- Job security
- Seniority based shift, days off, and duty location selection. Can be a "Con" if you're low on the seniority list
Cons – - Incompetent Management
- Promotion and job selections are not based on merit. They're based on who you know.
- No incetive for senior employees to get a promotion, as they will lose all of their seniority at the next rank. As a result, people who have been working there for 10 years end up having someone who's worked there 1 year as thier superior.
- Procedures change like the weather. Job related news is usually poorly passed down and often found out on the local media before hearing about it from management/supervision.
- Shift selections are odd hours and days off; based on seniority. It's a "Pro" if you have seniority.
Advice to Senior Management – I'd be wasting my time to advise management of anything. They wouldn't listen because it wasn't their idea.

Current Employee – been working at TSA (Transportation Security Administration) full-time for more than a year
Pros – Good Working Hours, Low Stress
Cons – Terrible favoritism practices, hiring of non deserving candidates for mid and senior level leadership. Pay increases are essential to maximize potential and productivity, no in band pay increases is ridiculous.
Advice to Senior Management – Promote based upon education and experience and not on friendships.
