    Pros

Stable employment for the most part. Government always pays more than private.

    Cons

Yearly performance reviews mostly based on your relationship with your supervisor, limited upward mobility.

    Advice to Management

Improve pay structure to reflect seniority.

    Pros

The pay was really the bonus checks were the best. You become really close with the people you work with.

    Cons

Some of the passengers can be really rude. The first year you're there your shift will suck

    Advice to Management

Management could be a little more personalable and not act as if you're beneath them. They can show some sort of compassion.

    Pros

The experience alone is pretty amazing. I've worked at a very busy large airport for 2 years plus. I have seen and witness some crazy things that I am sure not many people can say they have. Some coworkers can become great friends. The thought of protecting the public can make you feel good. The pay is great when the government isn't playing childish games with your paycheck.

    Cons

Every day is a gamble. You can have those days where a psychotic or snobby passenger is yelling at you about the rules. Then you will have days where you bang heads with a moron coworker who is trashy, unprofessional, and possibly insane. You wonder how they hired some of your coworkers. Imagine witnessing 2000 plus people a day squeeze through a small checkpoint with no air conditioning and it is dusty as hell.. oh, and you are the only male or female on the floor giving pat downs all day? On top of it you might run into someone recording you with their phone or taking photos. A passenger sexually harassing you while you pat them down or even looking in their bag? There is no process to report this?

    Advice to Management

Cohesiveness needs to be fixed. No one is treated equally. Stop favoring someone for other positions just because they have a military or police background. Just because they were a ex-cop or ex-marine doesn't mean they have great skills working as a BDO or management skills. Everyone notices it. It is obvious. Stop worrying about the passenger line. If you are worried about passenger line, hire more people.

    Pros

Pay is decent, coworkers don't suck too bad.

    Cons

Too few female leads. Supervisors micromanage. Unfair labor practices.

    Advice to Management

Pull your head out and treat your female lead and supervisors as equals to their male counterparts.

    Pros

Great place to begin your career with the government. It is a stepping stone to move to different departments and branches within the Government. Coworkers are great team workers.

    Cons

The daily stresses incurred by the traveling passengers can be a lot for a person. Majority of selected managers do not have the educational background to lead.

    Advice to Management

If management is going to promote from within make sure the individual has the some degree with the experience. Experience alone does not mean a person can manage and lead.

    Pros

Decent salary and good benefits. In the recession government jobs have more stability. It's probably better suited for college students going part time.

    Cons

Government work can be very confining. You're tested over 4 times a year officially and randomly throughout the year unofficially.

    Advice to Management

Team building and training is more effective than multiple test taking that threatens job security. In these environments employee morale is greatly effected negatively.
