    I worked at TUV Rheinland

    Pros

Good vacation time. You can develop skills in certain areas such as product safety, emc, testing, etc.

    Cons

TUV seems to fire people or lay them off when they start making too much money or get too old. Note that too much money by their standards isn't really very much money either. The salaries at TUV are low compared to other salaries in the Bay Area and Southern California. For example, an EMC engineer at a manufacturer is going to make a lot more than an EMC engineer at TUV. You could put in 10 years at TUV as an Engineer in the Bay Area and be still be making less than 100k.
Management at TUV changes all the time. When I was there, they brought in several sales and operations 'experts' only to lay off said experts within a few months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make more money by getting more clients, not by keeping salaries low. Give employees a reason to stay for more than a few years. Your competitors down the road offer stock options and bonuses.

    Pros

Great vacation time because of the European parent company.

    Cons

Management is extramly incopmetent. One exampel is the ANNUAL 4th quarter development freeze. If managament did their job Q1-Q3 this would not be an annual event.

Uppermanagamet wastes an insane amount of money Q1-Q3 from $1k dinners to strip clubs to company cars for thise who do nothing to develop the business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop elmianting postions that actually deal with customers and look at the very top. Its so obvious that it kills copany moral.

    I worked at TUV Rheinland

    Pros

    - good benefits package
    - tons of vacation time because of european parent company
    - diverse group of employees work there

    Cons

    - senior management completey incompetent
    - unless you are german, you cannot advance
    - absolutely no loyalty
    - arcaine rules are implemented for all staff .. and then completely ignored by sr management hours after being posted

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

perhaps you should take more time praising and rewarding good employees. not being yelled at for work on a project shouldnt be the goal, but it is there. The good people leave for a reason, and then you are left with the b-squad to run things. and you wonder why you have to fight for numbers monthly.
