Pros – Room for advancement so long as you are willing to take on challenges. Very good work / life balance.
Cons – A lot of management. Progress is slow.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
Pros – The people at TVO are true professionals who know their jobs to the last detail. The working environment is pleasant and the salary is good.
Cons – TVO's management is driven by politics, not a desire for improvement. Managers are hired and fired for political reasons, and the policies they implement are poorly considered, poorly planned and poorly communicated. TVO is in a constant state of restructuring that seems to have no clear goal or implementation strategy. Consequently, rank-and-file employees are often given conflicting, inconsistent instructions.
Advice to Senior Management – Changes should be driven by a desire to improve the quality of the product or the efficiency of the workers, not just for the sake of change.
Pros – Laid back environment. Everyone was approachable
Cons – Thin budgets and not always directed where it was most needed
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
Pros – The environment is one of the last to have an old school defined benefit pension program. This is worth a great deal of money if you can make it 10-15 years service.
Cons – TVO is an Union Environment burdened with provincial government austerity measures. Salaries are frozen with benefit cutbacks in full swing,
Advice to Senior Management – Get stable funding.
Pros – Very good company to work with though, the pay is high.
Cons – They just had a laid off round, they reduced like 3 department, laying off 40 staff employees and probably alot of contract workers who's contract was ending.
Advice to Senior Management – Be careful with TVO Business side, they do watch the employee at all staff meetings and such, arrive on time for them.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
Pros – Having transformed itself from simply being a broadcaster, the growing body of digitally streamed content, educational kids games, mobile apps, on line high school courses and other web services means lots of opportunities for IT professionals. Great work life balance. Competitive salaries and benefits. Convenient location in mid-town Toronto. Sorry to sound like a marketing ad, but its all true.
Cons – While management, employee and union relations are generally good, some issues still come up.
Pros – people are very balanced with work/life
Cons – lack of opportunities for advancement
Advice to Senior Management – more inspiration and strategy
