I worked at Taj Group of Hotels full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I found the job through craigslist and loved the job from the moment i got hired to my last day. You are far more than a employee to management you are treated as respected equal and they will along side you during busy times.

    Cons

The union has a strong hold inside the hotel, if you get written up for something and you say something to your union rep odds are management will cave and you will get the write up taken away. I've seen many of people get their jobs back thanks to the union even if they did screw up legitimately and should have been permanently terminated.
May god help you if you make a mistake or handle something the wrong way and you are not union because they will have zero loyalty towards the employee and fire you.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting the union run the hotel wake up and realize that you can be the best hotel in the city but until you get from under the unions dirty hands you will have sub-par luxury hotel.

    Pros

The leadership in this company is great. They have a clear vision of what they want, and they have a plan for the future.

    Cons

Some of the challenges with working for this company is that they do not have the most up to date technology. This inhibits the ability of some of those that need higher technology.

    Advice to Management

The management needs to understand they have to put money in, in order to see a higher return.

    Pros

Gives great recognition for hard work and going beyond for guests. Does not over burden or limit what can be done to make a guests stay amazing. Limited only by what resources you can pull together

    Cons

Extremely long hours and work weeks, an average of 6 days before next set of days off. Lack of proper training for new hire positions. Does not offer any education incentive, any classes taken related to your field are paid for out of pocket, no reimbursement.
