    Pros

Employee opinions matter, open to change, summer Friday's, 35-Hr work week, flex hours

    Cons

Outdated systems, disconnect between departments, no (full) cafeteria, shipping department is extremely unreasonable & difficult to work with

    Advice to Management

It would be helpful to allocate more money to hiring more staff

    Pros

Flexible hours, half day Fridays in the summer and depending on your position there is a good work/ life balance.

    Cons

Some of the upper management employees are extremely unprofessional, they play favorites and bully others with intimidation tactics. Management level employees don't get along with each other and this causes a great deal of conflict throughout the company. The moral within Takasago USA is so low and employees who have spent many years are the company are leaving. Some of these people chose to leave even before finding other jobs because of how bad things have become. The is very little recognition for hard work and there is hardly any room for advancement. Sadly the way upper management treats employees, more will be leaving.

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to follow the rules of the company and not just expect that only mid level employees have to do so. Unprofessional behavior is very common and needs to be stopped. Employees should be protected from this type of behavior. Recognized and appreciate hard working employees or they will seek new jobs that will reward them with higher pay and better positions.

  3. Fragrance Division: Very low morale

    Pros

Get to work with well known companies and products. Flavor side of Takasago takes more interest in their people than the fragrance side.

    Cons

First six months, no PTO days. After 6 months you receive only up to 6PTO days for the first year. Company offers low match to 401k and only after a few years you've been with the company. Poor health benefits. Very poor job training to new employees. Very poor family work life balance. High turnover within this company. This is the type of company that you start off with to get your foot in the door. After a year, you will want to move on to a bigger and better company that would offer you better opportunities. The flavor side is basically a separate company that offers better salary, bonuses and throws parties for their employees. This does NOT happen on the Fragrance side.

    Advice to Management

Learn from bigger companies. This company seems to be stuck in the dark ages. Make flex Fridays all year long, have dress down Fridays, PTO days should be 15days from when a employee starts, offer competitive salaries , offer flexible work hours, allow people to work from home.

Once a very good company in the past, now is a nightmare place, every day people get fired or they just resign.

    Pros

Very good people with a lot of experience and knowledge working here.

    Cons

Very bad directors and plan managers, they don't keep his word, bad treatment to current employees, short of equipment, very disappointed now.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the real people who have the knowledge, too many people just sit in offices and don't know what is going on the plan.

    Pros

Diverse customer base - work on different projects with wide variety of companies Friendly people - high level of cooperation Relaxed atmosphere - no pressure Great place to work a job, but if you're looking to grow in your career, look elsewhere (read on)

    Cons

Management unable to provide clear priorities and expectations Ineffective use of resources leading to misalignment with business demands Under-utilization of talent in several departments, unproductive and inefficient systems accepted as standard practice Low morale, high disengagement, lack of focus, absence of mission from leadership Individualized culture with minimal opportunity to collaborate and thus to grow Goal-setting poorly done and not top-down, lack of mission statement doesn't help Once-a-year performance review lacks relevance and situational context, therefore not actionable Lack of periodic feedback leads to lack of motivation to improve; this is on a department basis - doing things the same way because no reason to change (improve) is seen or voiced

    Advice to Management

There are no wrong answers, but there are things you can be doing better, i.e. employee development and engagement. Are you getting the best of what your employees have to offer? I believe a good start is by asking, measuring and tracking the answers regularly.
