  1. So far an "interesting" experience... jump ship when possible just like everyone else has been.

I have been working at Takata full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly coworkers and managers, flex time, 401k matching, interesting product to be working on (airbags).

    Cons

High workload, medium-to-low pay, training was non-existent, management hierarchy is clear as mud, not a lot of vacation days given, working with Mexico plants is a lesson in patience. There is a general sense of no one here actually "liking" their job. By the way, check the news -- Takata is in deep trouble concerning recent recalls of their products. As a result, despite what was told to me in my interview that the office is loaded to the brim with people, there are a surprising amount of open desks throughout the building. This tells me that more people are leaving than HR can find to replace. Just in my less than a year's worth of experience here, I can already tell that colleagues get fed up with the "work 8 years here then just maybe we'll promote you / maybe give you a bonus" attitude here.

    I worked at Takata

    Pros

Great place to learn, to develop a good professional career, office culture is excellent, corporate culture is good, since it is a big company you get to collaborate with a lot of people from different parts of the world which helps you to develop and increase your knowledge, and high job security.

    Cons

Compensations in Mexico are very low compared to other similar companies in the area, salary raises are very limited and HR department is very limited too.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a better way to compensate employees, and improve HR practices with employees.

    Pros

Very friendly co-workers, holiday shut down that is paid

    Cons

terrible pay, poor benefits, bonuses available to favorites only

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Takata as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    The work envirement, company values

    Cons

The plant growth is very small in Takata-Petri in Morocco, which is might not be the best place for training or first job exprience

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Morocco is a very strategic country to grow the organization( people, envirement, salary..). If you can establish new plant or expand it in Morocco, it will be a win-win case for both of Takata organization and Moroccan capable employees

I have been working at Takata full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Stimulating and challenging work on high-tech electronics. Never dull. Constant opportunities for learning and advancing your skills. Opportunities for international travel to work with colleagues and customers all around the globe.

    Cons

Automotive customers are very demanding, as they should be when safety is involved. Hours can be long during critical phases of a project.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to clearly communicate goals and strategy from the top down, as often as possible, in order to keep everyone on the same page.

I have been working at Takata as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

Teammates are great. Senior Engineers are very knowledgeable and always willing to help. Management is ok.
Great place to learn and grow.
We get payed for holidays and salary is good

    Cons

Bureaucracy. Sometimes it's understandable due to the nature of the work and size of the company. But very often, it just hinders the development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work harder on lowering the bureaucracy and optimizing the development time on a project. .

I have been working at Takata (more than 3 years)

    Pros

A good learning experience. Good starter job for a young student or recent graduate. Not a career unless you know upper management or kiss enough behind to move up.

    Cons

Overworked and underpaid. Every other negative review on here has it spot-on. Being a jack of all trades and performing the work of your incompetent program manager or sales team or test personnel becomes a regular requirement. Nepotism runs rampant. Little to no growth opportunity at the company. Those that don't deserve promotions get them, and those that work themselves to death get no recognition. Engineers (at least in my team) regularly work late under high stress and no sign of relief. Takata cannot hire enough support to replace the numerous employees that leave for incredibly higher paying and higher rewarding opportunities. Uncompetitive workplace, no motivation or reward for saving the company millions in engineering cost saving changes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Encourage more feedback from employees, listen to their concerns, and do something to help! Happy and motivated employees = better products!

I worked at Takata full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting challenges related to automotive safety electronics. Smaller company feel, with the financial backing of larger company. Good people. Potential to achieve a lot. Good place to learn best practices in the automotive electronics industry.

    Cons

Company is trying to compete with well established automotive electronics companies (TRW, Bosch) in advanced driver assistance safety systems. Not always willing to put the resources into a project to be able to compete. Has had a series of layoffs over the past 10 years during times when they should have been investing for the future. Limited opportunity for advancement because of minimal success and essentially flat to negative growth.
