Pros
Management very understanding of the need for a work-life balance.
Cons
Recently there has been some restructuring going on within the company, so the long-term job outlook is not very certain.
Pros
Pay, benefits and flexibile schedule
Cons
poor pipeline, lack of understaning of direction of company
Pros
Training opportunities, multicultural work place, reward systems, attractive employee package
Cons
Very hyerarchical environment. Decisions are required to be shared with multiple stakeholders endless teleconferences, competition between regions, aggresive management, high employee turnover, limited pipeline, uncertainty for the future.
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people only if one really has the qualities to do the job. Improve communication with the employees.
Pros
It is an outside sales job therefore the days you don't ride with your manager you have the ability to run your own territory. The benefits are great. The 401K is great.
Cons
Moral is very low due to potential layoffs. The moral is low in the industry due to lack of stability in maintaining employment. Your job satisfaction depends heavily on who your District Manager is. The line of support is lacking at this point. The goals are not based on what is realistic in the teritories.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to what the reps are saying about the climate of their territory and the industry and what is best for the territories.
Pros
Good Benefits, respectful of the employees, great training, very appreciative of their employees, they try to limit the time away from home.
Cons
Expediting ideas is tough with such a big corporation; taken away some of the creativity of doing our job. Becoming more like a Big Pharma company
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the employees and continue to make changes for the betterment of the company. Keep the employees well informed of the pipeline.
Pros
Salary and benefits were great while it lasted.
Cons
With no warning, management announced on May 12, 2010 that 20% of the US workforce would be laid off on June 3rd. They also stated that all executive jobs were safe, and that they knew already who would be let go, but would not announce the names until June 3rd. There was virtually nothing accomplished between these dates except worry, speculation, and increasing frustration and anger.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop all the happy talk about the company being your "family".
Pros
Offers a pretty good compensation package
State of the art building and great cafeteria
Overall, pretty intelligent and nice colleagues
Cons
Carreer advancement/promotions are pretty hard to come by
Drug pipeline is constricting = less revenue = a ton of internal changes taking place
Advice to Senior Management
I can only speak to the Finance function but we are completely overworked and stressed out over the workload due to the recent reduction in force.
Pros
They do provide decent sales and product knowledge training. The benefits package is also comparable to other pharmaceutical companies. Ongoing professional development learning is available.
Cons
Despite training and development opportunities, career advancement is not available. Sales managers are largely clueless and incompetent. Starting salaries are lower than others in the industry.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on management development as well as future products or partnerships. Recent layoffs were ridiculous and many talented employees were lost while those retained were not the best.
Pros
Generous vacation (3 weeks years 1-5, 4 weeks after 5 years)
Cons
Advancement opportunities limited. Human Resources leans more towards managers than employees. Head-count continually decreases.
Advice to Senior Management
Be open with your employees. Learn to communicate on a weekly basis. Listen to employees on the front line - they know what is needed to do their job,
Pros
Had the autonomy from my DM to analyze business and determine targets
Cons
Goals were not consistent each quarter versus other territories
Advice to Senior Management
Need flexibility in goals, make a net for 4 mos instead of 3
