    Pros

Great leadership and my team was fantastic. The work atmosphere was calm, organized, and friendly.

    Cons

Hours weren't always that consistent, but it was fairly consistent for retail and very flexible.

    Advice to Management

Great company. Increasing opportunities for advancement and more consistency in incentives and hours would be ideal.

    Pros

Good Classic Merchandise that is well made.

    Cons

Sales Associates to busy steeling commissions, to much pressure put on associates to open accounts. Have sales associates act more professional and less like high school and collage.

    Advice to Management

Stop pushing associates to up store sales by pressuring them to sell more clothes than the customer wants.
    Hire more older workers.

    Cons

Not as much support from management when it was difficult to achieve sales goals during the bad economy.

    Pros

Pay is decent compared to other retail clothing stores.
Very good work life balance, at times the store only wants sales associates for one shift per week (which can become a con...) My manager really respects our availability, if we ask off ahead of time she does everything she can to give us the schedules we need.
    Good discount on clothes.

    Cons

NO, I repeat, NO raises. Ever. For me (a sales associate) or my key holder, or the managers.
Constantly pushing sales, getting more credit cards, selling as many items to one customer as possible - sometimes it really isn't fun, but rather stressful.

    Advice to Management

Why don't we ever get raises? New sales associates get the same pay as associates that have been there for years and years ...

    Pros

Great history and brand recognition from Nancy Talbot. Many store leaders believe in her history and the brand.

    Cons

Yearly employment recognition for performance increase.

    Pros

The employees were very nice and kind. A very family atmosphere among the lower employees.

    Cons

The managers where discriminatory towards people under 30. I was given no training and had to learn from getting yelled at. Was made to work in almost complete silence in the backroom for hours and given a huge amount of work to do that was constantly added to. Had one of the managers pull me to the side and tell me to my face that I wasn't doing enough work and that I didn't care. She told me that I was too invested in college and only cared about the money. My hours were cut down to the point I was only working 5 days per month. Would guilt me into doing something I had never done before in front of the customers and expect me to get it right. I was told that I couldn't talk at work, that if I had time to talk, I could be moving my hands. Basically, that I should work by myself in complete silence for 8 hours. The managers, especially this specific one, would come back and pressure me into working faster and getting this huge amount of work done. All of the managers said only two phrases to me " How's it going?" and " How many boxes left?" Only one other person who worked on stock which is insanely too much work for two people.

    Advice to Management

Please, check up on store #52. Skip all of the managers and go talk to Nina, Tatiana, and Reese. They know what is going on and I hope they will be working there when you come by. I honestly wanted to work there but I felt like garbage everyday because no one told me the difference between shirts or the correct way to fold clothes.

    Pros

the store management was nice and flexible. The clients were usually people that have been loyal to talbots for a long time. The quality of the clothes was mostly good for an outlet.

    Cons

Low pay and barely any increase in salary.
Corporate staff seemed like they didn't care.

    Pros

Friendly staff, good benefits, nice location, many inhouse opportunities for advancement and free Starbucks!

    Cons

This company has turned around from it's decline after the market crash. Job stability during the recession (like most companies) was a concern, but hasn't seem to be the case the past year as our bottom line is exceeding expectations.

    Advice to Management

    Compensation adjustment
