I have been working at Talend

    Pros

Product, people outside of senior management

    Cons

Culture has eroded and is highly political especially since there is a huge problem with keeping any Senior Management for at least a year, it has become a revolving door and the employees feel like there is not room for growth if they keep getting a new boss every six months. Leadership is not desirable, it seems like a fake it till you make it team. The HR (oh excuse me I mean POPS AKA People Operations) has gotten considerably worse since they brought someone in to run it that is rude, entitled and inappropriate...seriously you invited yourself with no agenda to the Sales Quota Club that was extremely poor form. It used to feel like the employees were cared about but that is gone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Know what it is you want and stop making poor choices in hiring your senior management team it comes across to the employees that you are confused and don't know what you are doing, people have lost confidence and many are looking to go elsewhere. It is really sad because the product is amazing and the company can do amazing things but your leadership feels like you are playing games and since the Founders are gone the company is slowly losing it's purpose and meaning. I suggest you give us an outlet where we can feel comfortable sharing our feedback or we would not have to result in sharing it publicly here. Revamp your HR and bring the human aspect back in. Please put someone in charge that actually cares (not just order ikea furniture for an office that is mostly empty aka glorified interior designer).

    I worked at Talend

    Pros

    - There are many wonderful people who work here. Very friendly.
    - Flexible work/life balance

    Cons

The organization is not what it used to be. Some departments were replaced with new management and the company does not look out for the well being of the employees. Many people have "jumped ship" and a select few managers/executives has an entitlement that they could do whatever they want. When I started, taking care of the employees was a value here but now you are disposable. People used to be happy but are now miserable because we do not know "who's next". Politics are in play and if you don't keep up, you will be cut. Many of the managers have hired their friends. CEO is oblivious to what is going on within his own organization and unaware of the decisions to whom he have given power/authority to manage this.

One more thing, they no longer offer free lunches. This stopped back in October due to "budget cuts". They told us that they would start this back up in January and the month is almost over. It's an over-glorified office to work in, without the perks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees like people. If there are budget cuts that need to be made, why don't you investigate on the type of spending managers are making. There are a few people that has been poisonous to the company and their only concerns are how they and their dept, rather than the company, be taken cared of.

I have been working at Talend full-time

    Pros

-New office and some great colleagues
    -Solid product
    -Flexible work schedule

    Cons

-Lack of culture...trying to manufacture a hip silicon valley startup vibe when it isn't Talend's true identity.
-Large amount of turnover - people have been leaving or getting let go left and right, and morale has plummeted because of this.
-Compensation is not competitive with other tech companies in the area.
-Catered lunches and snacks were taken away.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need performance feedback more than once per year. One year of work is an eternity in the bay area.

I have been working at Talend as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

The people here are really amazing. I am relatively new and everyone I have come in contact with have been super helpful and incredibly nice. The company's products are top notch and smack bad in the middle of one of the hottest spaces in technology. A real international feel to the company. It is very cool to work with people in France, Germany, UK, etc. There are all the perks too! Let's put it this way - you will have a lot of fun and be fed very well :)

    Cons

Like any fast growing company - there aren't a lot of process and policies. If you are looking for a really structured type environment then it isn't for you. Very entrepreneurial spirit here - and there is a lot of hard work involved.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep us growing! It is exciting to be part of a company like Talend that really gets the "people" aspect.

I have been working at Talend as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Well run company that sells Big Data products. Everybody is enthusiastically pushing the company forward but still has time to have fun. Many take time out to play electronic basketball or ping pong. Colorful, comfortable new office is barely occupied. Many work remotely. No cubes here; just long tables, chairs, and Wi-Fi for laptops. The managers are experienced but are also enjoying the fun. Well stocked snacks, drinks, coffee, capuccino, espresso... Large kitchen has microwave, dishwasher, real dinnerware, 2 huge refrigerators. Just hired 100+.

    Cons

Company having growing pains and business focus is unclear. CEO is controlling costs so catered lunches have been cut and hiring is frozen. Pay is low for contractors. Hard to estimate the business outlook. They sell B2B. CEO could be controlling costs because they genuinely want to take the company public or they could be having problems. Hard to say.

    Pros

Talend offers a positive, team-oriented work environment. The company is pre-IPO, with revenue and customers, and competes successfully in a blistering hot space that’s only getting bigger. Net/net, if you get the opportunity to work here you should jump at the chance.

    Cons

As you would expect from a company experiencing rapid growth, some internal systems and process are still being perfected. By the same token, lots of opportunities for employees to help shape them and impact the company’s broader trajectory.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to maintain an open dialog with employee base as the company grows, celebrate diversity and promote and recognize the efforts of individual contributors.

I worked at Talend full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a worldwide organization with many talented people. If you get an opportunity to join this company, it's a great way to meet a very sharp international team and make an impact. Talend still has a startup feel. Everyone seems to want to come together and beat the competition and corporate games are minimal. If you have an idea for product enhancements or sales improvements, you can usually own it and take it on. The products are not smoke and mirrors, but really capable products that help companies get out from under expensive alternatives.

    Cons

As some have mentioned, pay and benefits are the biggest con. Expect to have a good career at Talend, but don't expect outstanding benefits of some bigger companies.
