    Customer Support

    Systems Support Analyst (Current Employee)
    Jacksonville, FL

ProsBenefits including health, dental, vision, fsa, stock options, 401k, 3 weeks vacation as new employee, holidays and other pto

ConsProper training and immediate manager support for the learning process to do job. Manager's don't know or have never done the job and do not know how difficult the processes get in the way of getting job done in the time required to hit the numbers expected - this role is very much a call center role and no longer relationship management with set clients. Great for starters, but not for seasoned professionals

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should not be based on who knows who, but who is truly qualified to support and work with their team for a successful future.

    Does virtual well

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Portland, ME

ProsFor a company that is spread out geographically, they do a pretty good job of keeping connected.
They have REALLY good people to work with. I meet so many clever and innovative people in my different interactions within the company.

ConsIt is harder to stay connected with so many virtual employees. As the company grows and meets the challenges that come through, there is a feeling that some of the tasks that help build good employees are not treated the same throughout the company.

    Advice to Senior Management.

ProsTaleo is a fantastic place to work, be it early or late in your career. Filled with extremely smart peopel, dedicated to making Taleo successful. Management is the most strategic in the space and has set this company up to own the on-deman talent management space for years to come.

ConsYou gotta want to work hard if you want to work at Taleo, which is not really a negative at all. 401k could be better.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it up!

Taleo is a great place to work for those who thrive under pressure.

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Dublin, CA

ProsWinning is part of the culture. Good balance of innovation and execution. Most important reason for Taleo being a great place to work is the talent management space which is exciting and growing fast and Taleo's position in that space.

ConsFast growth and emerging technology always brings challenges and a lot of pressure but that's what you sign up for when joining Taleo. Company is quite distributed for its size so expect to spend a lot of time on the phone, on Webex and in planes. No real surprises here.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not lose long term focus, this is what made Taleo successful.

    Great people who work hard....

    Consultant (Current Employee)
    Dublin, CA

ProsGreat people, good compensation. Some teams are closer than others but overall everyone is happy to work here. The company grew very methodically so there is no immediate danger of layoffs and job loss.

ConsBe prepared to work long hours. Everyone is very smart so you are working along with people who are used to working very hard and smart. There is a lot of pressure to succeed and new hires know very quickly if they are not going to fit in. Others who like the environment stay long term.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe company seems top heavy and still hiring senior management and adding more management levels. Communicate more and listen to your teams.

If you have talent, bring it elsewhere.

    Solutions Consultant (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsUp and coming at the time... it was exciting to be in at the ground floor (this was just prior to them going Public). I also enjoyed visiting the Home Office in Quebec City, Canada. These are sincerely the only two good memories I have of my experience working for Taleo.

ConsThe management team is miserable. I've never been affiliated with such a bombastic group. Going through training as a new hire is like going to Boot Camp. Similarly, the Managers are like Drill Sargeants. From a complete lack of recognition, to unfair criticism - the management team (which has since turned over several times) never realized that there are better places to work.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay close attention to what can be learned from Exit Interviews.

    Good company

    Network Administrative (Former Employee)
    Liberty Corner, NJ

ProsGreat team work and great management ard some of the other perks at working there are free drinks and a som ohter good extra benefits there. This company had gone tru a acquistion of Vurv Technology and that made this company to be the leader in the talent management industry compared to other competitors. They have a great products that can really be described to be much better than the rest of the applications out there. They have many global locations around the world and I believe they will grow in the next few years much bigger. Many chances to work in other locations possibly.

Constoo slow to repsond to employees needs about issues

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter communications to other employees in other locations

May learn a thing or two, but be prepared for long hours, impossible deadlines and unappreciative management.

    (Former Employee)
    Dublin, CA

ProsIf you live in Alameda County and want to work for a company that is publicly traded and is in a growth market (HRIS) and probably won't run into any serious financial troubles in the near future. Also you may learn a lot of good software development practices and procedures. Benefits are standard and they have an ESPP program.

ConsLong hours and long commute if you don't live near Dublin. Long as in weekends and working through the night. A typical work week is 60-80 hrs.

The company is split into teams that support the enterprise product and those that support the product geared for the midsize market. The enterprise team tends to go through long (~6 months) development cycles whereas the SMB team tends to have short release cycles. Release cycles tend to be every 6 weeks.

If you miss deadlines, you get berated. If you work 'till wee hours in the morning for an entire month, you won't get any recognition for your hard work...not even a "Thanks for the hard work.". Just a here's the next project.

Advice to Senior ManagementConduct 360 performance reviews. Anonymous reviews of employees for their managers would be beneficial.
