    They treat you like workhorses, and management thinks that engineers are there to do whatever they say.

    Cons

    Pros

    Can't really think of any.

    Cons

    This was a poorly run company from the top down. Most of the products were not well developed and upper management asked sales to push vaporware.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You did the best thing possible and sold the company to Oracle. At least Oracle might actually develop solid products that actually work.

    Pros

    Taleo offers good benifits, that's all.

    Cons

    Taleo wants to be a "talent management" company but has no internal processes around managing it's own talent. Advancement is around who you know and not how you perform. Salary is based on how underpaid they think they can get away with. Training is non-existent. And leadership integrity is very low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Restructure your leadership teams to put real leaders in charge. Restructure your culture so talent identification and utilization is in the forefront. Promote and reward based on real achievements.

    Pros

    Great place to hit the ground running and learn from some fantastic grass-roots employees. People start off very passionate about what they do and why. Good products and great solution initiatives.

    Cons

    All the negatives already mentioned and more. Micro-management from a finance level; take-take-take from employees and very little give; low employee engagement and no passion from senior management who give the impression they just want to cash in from a future buy out.

    Listen to your employees; improve employee engagement; take these issues seriously.

    Pros

    Taleo gives exposure to working with Product Management directly
    Small company feel, with occasional social events

    Cons

    Promotion and praise is based on nepotism, and how much you are liked by your boss. No mentor ship whatsoever, in fact, they can lead you down the opposite direction by saying highly negative comments about your work. No recognition for any good work, no avenue to nurture your talents whatsoever they may be.

    Management should be scrutinized for how they behave with their employees

    I worked at Taleo

    Pros

    Up and coming at the time... it was exciting to be in at the ground floor (this was just prior to them going Public). I also enjoyed visiting the Home Office in Quebec City, Canada. These are sincerely the only two good memories I have of my experience working for Taleo.

    Cons

    The management team is miserable. I've never been affiliated with such a bombastic group. Going through training as a new hire is like going to Boot Camp. Similarly, the Managers are like Drill Sargeants. From a complete lack of recognition, to unfair criticism - the management team (which has since turned over several times) never realized that there are better places to work.

    Pay close attention to what can be learned from Exit Interviews.

    Pros

    Good work life balance. Everyone on the support team is there only from 8 to 5pm.

    Cons

    Overall very low morale on team-mates
    Non existent training
    Extremely dissatisfied customers to deal with

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Prepare your people properly before sending them to support clients.
    The software itself is amazingly buggy (I was there on 2011). FIX IT!
    The support senior and medium management is worthless. They have no clue what is going on with the clients.
