I have been working at Taleo

    Pros

Great benefits. Agile. They treat you like an adult. Desire to be innovative. It is a hard to think of anything else.

    Cons

Very secretive of important matters. Too top heavy with a countless assortment of VPs. Tout innovation, but do not deliver or give true incentive to innovate. Does a horrid job retaining its top talent, especially for a company that sells "talent intelligence".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop hitting on all the buzz words and start innovating. Listen to your employees. Redesign and rewrite your products. Stop lowballing people you need to help your company thrive.

I have been working at Taleo

    Pros

Good benefits, Competitive pay, Casual Environment

    Cons

Forget career growth if you don't work at head quarters in Dublin California. Top level management and representation at Jacksonville FL office is non-existent. It feels like only a matter of time before Taleo shuts down all R and D in Jacksonville FL. Very slow turn around time if you need something from other teams, especially in the QC office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize that relocating all R and D to Silicone Valley is going to come back to bite you. Your top talent is going to get poached or move to other companies, only mediocre will remain. You are pushing away a lot of talent that wants to be here.

Your a software company, don't outsource the heart of you business!!!

    I worked at Taleo

    Pros

    Work with some great people

    Cons

After it's acquisition of Vurv, the vibrant atmosphere of the office was lost and replaced by an overall sense of humdrum.
Too many layers of management for my taste.

Sr. Mgmt maintains a very elitist attitude toward employees and disregards work/life balance.

    I worked at Taleo

    Pros

East bay HQ location with proximity to BART station.

    Cons

Long hours in a "hire and fire" atmosphere. No time for employee development. Stock grants are paltry or non-executives.

I have been working at Taleo

    Pros

    -Energy & Passion
-Hot Market (Talent Management Software Market is heated and growing)
-Ability to Make an Impact on Millions of Users (e.g. getting hired, getting rewarded & growing their career)
-Responsible growth. Taleo is growing significantly and is profitable.

    Cons

All the normal challenges you might imagine at a growing company (e.g. communication, intensive work cycles periodically).

Some teams are highly dispersed geographically, although there is a renewed focus to do a better job of co-locating teams.

    Very unplesent place to work

    I worked at Taleo

    Pros

Taleo offers good benifits, that's all.

    Cons

Taleo wants to be a "talent management" company but has no internal processes around managing it's own talent. Advancement is around who you know and not how you perform. Salary is based on how underpaid they think they can get away with. Training is non-existent. And leadership integrity is very low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restructure your leadership teams to put real leaders in charge. Restructure your culture so talent identification and utilization is in the forefront. Promote and reward based on real achievements.

I have been working at Taleo

    Pros

The 'bozo factor' at Taleo is quite low
Taleo has great momentum in the market
Taleo is well positioned to be lead the emerging Talent Management space
Taleo's fast growth creates many opportunities
Although most of us work fairly hard, many managers are flexible about scheduling and working from home

    Cons

Taleo is more decentralized than many similar sized companies which results in some communication challenges
Taleo's internal communication and knowledge management systems could be much better

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We focus strongly on profitability but we're in a land grab market where our largest competitor has double our valuation, less revenue, almost no profit but significantly faster growth. We should be more willing to offer deals on implementation services and first year fees to grow more quickly.

    I worked at Taleo

    Pros

Work from home is always good. Payscale is comparable with other companies. Good Benefits. Great company parties. Great conference to meet other co workers.

    Cons

Not a good working environment. Not a place to work for a person with a growing family due to work load.
