I worked at Target part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Organized, great communication, liked the people I worked with. Cashier is very user-friendly. Management listens when you have any issues. Great employee discount.

    Cons

Customers could sometimes be rude. Long hours can be mandatory depending on the season we are in. Not much else...

I have been working at Target

    Pros

Pay, excellent pay for only needing a high school diploma.

    Cons

Benefits, healthcare is on the rise and coverages is decreasing, and copayments are on the rise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Terrible, no experience supervisors who have a 4 year degree that's never worked in retail in their life telling you how to do tour job.

I have been working at Target part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Independent decision, and ownership of projects. Able to initiate change.

    Cons

Getting feedback about change beyond store level... they try to be transparent but fail in most cases. Quite a few store-level Executives who think the team members are in high school and micro manage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Delegate task. Offer advice. Let it happen. Almost never is how many things can be done 'one way'. Communicate directly... use paper and pen to take and make notes.

I have been working at Target part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

All the staff are very positive and you feel like you are part of a community when you work there. You need to work hard, yet it is not as stressful as in some other companies.

    Cons

Sometimes it is under-staffed. While most of the time this is ok, at times it can get really busy and there are not enough staff there to serve the guests efficiently and quickly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the positive team spirit. Everyone is very supportive of each other. Continue to uphold this attitude.

I have been working at Target part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The ETL's are very responsive to the family needs that I have for specific scheduling and availability. There is a very diverse and great group of fellow employees.

    Cons

At times there is a high amount of shoppers and in trying to keep payroll costs down, we on the sales floor end up back-up cashiering a lot and it prevents us from getting our tasks done some days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to install newer technologies to help us better take care of the guests that visit and call our store.

I have been working at Target part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Target's company values and emphasis on inclusion are a breath of fresh air compared to other companies who treat workers like numbers and refuse to deal with the fact that humans are unpredictable.

    Cons

If only they paid us like we're humans who need a livable wage. Plus, some people take advantage of the system and should not still have jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe take some of the money for free food and convert it into decent wages. Or make it easier for lower management to fire problem workers.

I worked at Target part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Very organized, friendly leadership. The leadership program is the greatest I've ever seen. You sit down to be coached every week, and you get to choose your mentor.

    Cons

A lot of politics go into play when dealing with team members and management.

I worked at Target part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good stepping stone for first job. they hire a lot of young people especially in the summer months. They give good hours (sometimes too much) However, subs are easy to find if you can't make a shift. Usually they will respect your schedule requests and find a way to make it work. Easy to work technology, organized, responsive workplace.

    Cons

They switch you all over the floor whenever they feel like it. You could be hired as a cashier and end up doing back stock instead. Management really doesn't care, they treat everyone like 3rd class morons. Or maybe because I'm a college student I think that.
On another note, you deal with the public A LOT and sometimes they are NOT friendly. you can ask you supervisor to take care of it, but they hardly ever do.
