Pros
I loved shopping at Target especially because they have great clearance sales. & by working there you get a discount so that was an even bigger bonus.
Cons
The only downfall was I wish I had a longer break, it went by extremely fast. Also I wish it was a pizza hut in the Target I worked in.
Pros
Target is much more organized than some other companies: they have a good use of tools, inventory setup, and planning. The way that the employees, team leaders, and managers work together as a team is extraordinary, and everyone generally treats everyone else with respect. There is a diverse range of employees which keeps it fun and interesting most of the time. And, depending on which department you're in, the job can be pretty fun. Also, there are a number of ways to pick up extra hours each week if they are available (and they usually are).
Cons
The type of people that are hired on as managers can boggle the mind at times; apparently you need a bachelor's degree in order to be a manager, but some of the general associates are more intelligent than those put into managerial positions, which can be quite frustrating. Also, management tends to be very political, so what may seem fair or even logical is sometimes completely disregarded.
The availability you put down when hired will, more or less, be your availability forever even if you try to change it, and you can almost count on never having a consistent schedule (opening one morning, then closing, then opening, then mid-shift, etc.). Also, approaching the end of the fiscal year, you can count on your hours being reduced to practically nothing, regardless of performance or need.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider the needs of your employees more. Yes, you may have demands from those that are above you, but it's those that are below you that drive the profit of the store and who the guests see first. At least try to strike an even balance, because if an employee is happy, it'll be reflected in their work. Be more fair and less political. Do what makes sense, not what is more convenient for your personal, individual agenda.
And thank you for having given me a place to work where management is actually helpful and respectful. There is no shortage of respect and politeness for the employees (at least to their faces), and for that I have been very grateful. That is one thing that you definitely have going for this company.
Pros
good atmosphere, good experiences, treats employers with respect, and makes it easier for the employer to understand how the store operates.
Cons
there are some days when you will have to deal with some rude and obnoxious customers, the pay is not so great
Pros
Benefits, pay, co-workers & working enviroonment
Cons
career advancement past executive team lead
Pros
The people who work there are nice (at least at the Fishers SuperTarget store), and the management is competent at their jobs and conscientious of their employees. You get a lot of free food during Huddle sessions.
Cons
It is mostly minimum-wage work, and the hours can be really long if you have to work the closing shift.
Advice to Senior Management
I guess all I have to say is that the particular Fishers Target store that I work at is well-run. If all of the Target stores are like this one, then there really isn't a need for improvement.
Pros
My superiors were fair and competent. The environment was clean and friendly. The pay was decent as far as retail stores go.
Cons
Working at retail stores in general can be mind numbing. Not blaming Target for this, but I wish stores could think of ways for employees to engage with their customers.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more opportunities of advancement for those employees who deserve it. Some examples could include management training or tuition reimbursement.
Pros
Great company to work for. Work Life Balance
Cons
HQ in Minneapolis and no where else
Pros
The work is easy and the pay is higher than min. wage for my state. My coworkers and managers have all been very aproachable and friendly so far.
Cons
I can't imagine that there are that many opportunities for advancement- at the end of the day, this IS retail.
Advice to Senior Management
Sometimes, managers come across as being disorganized. Someone will set me up with a project, then halfway through it a different manager will come and tell me to do something else. It can be a little frustrating.
Pros
Great way to grow as a leader. The company treats you well as an employee. The pay is competitive. Tons of feedback.
Cons
It is retail, and hard retail. The feedback is often and blunt. Recognition does come, but it also goes fast. Some leaders are strong personal leaders others are logistics only and are merely focused on getting results.
Advice to Senior Management
More personal leadership is needed. Find peoples goals and skills and allow them to grow Target using their unique styles and creative ways.
Pros
great schedule and every other weekend off! Upper managment leaves you alone as long as you work hard and get the job done. Speed is life!
Cons
pay could be a little higher. that is really it. You must have open avaibility to move up
Advice to Senior Management
keep doing what your doing it's working! You are very nice to your team and in return they will work hard for you
