Pros
over all staff are fun and friendly.
Cons
when ask for leave of absence because my child had surgery, they were not able to help me.
Pros
Great Benefits, Love to shop there
Cons
Target used to be about working for the guest.. A great company.. Now its all about the bottom line.. you can tell from the employee and the guest perspective.
Advice to Senior Management
NO
Pros
Hours fit my lifestyle. Pay is decent.
Cons
expectations too high for the training recieved. Micro managing by management.
Advice to Senior Management
Form a training period where the pace is slower so the tm can grasp all the steps and execute their job more successfully.
Pros
Break room, young coworkers, hard work recognized, easy job, good customer service experience, good benefits package, fun activities and employee meals stuff like that.
Cons
Management can be super rude and on a power trip. Very stressful job for minimum wage during the holiday season. 30 minute unpaid lunch.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees beneath you with a little more respect because you aren't any better than them. Keep up the community and volunteer work.
Pros
Get a dollar bonus for working overnight
Cons
No communication, ETl's are just horrible over night
Advice to Senior Management
You should at least care about the people the work there the longest
Pros
Relatively easy to get hired without having to have education or some special skills. You work under a roof so the job is relatively clean and safe.
Cons
Low compensation, most people are working part-time without good benefits, high turnover rate, schedule changes from week to week, you are treated as though you are some disposable trash (and if you are a floor associate at Target, you are!)
Advice to Senior Management
I know you get a lot of applicants in this horribly performing, trashy economy, but try to reduce the turnover rate and hire people long term (even floor associates!). Also, give them good benefits (even part-timers), will you?
Pros
steady hours.......lots of work.
Cons
no clear line of command.....cant leave for a smoke break. little to no opportunity for advancement....even with a college degree. contradicting managers. no sence of team and everone (including managers and most team leads) are in it for themselves. marginal recognition for extra hard work.
Advice to Senior Management
dont quit your day job!
Pros
It is challenging and time passes quickly.
Decent benefits
Cons
Hard work not compensated/recognized.
No one held responsible.
Hours get slashed in January many loose benefits due to lack of average hours.
Reviews are not fair all the time.
Have to have a degree to advance. No promotion from within.
Advice to Senior Management
Follow up with team members daily to see what isn't working and why?
The reports just look good. Dig deep with a plan to resolve issues.
Find people who have a good attitude and like to work and be willing to pay them.
Pros
Get to work with some incredibly talented people. You also have the opportunity to work a variety of assignments because leadership expects team members to find new positions every 18-24 months.
Cons
Target has a strong culture and in order to be seen as a leader you must conform. Also depending on what pyramid you work in you may not be fully valued if you are a subject matter expert.
Advice to Senior Management
Take time to appreciate diversity, not all leaders act the same or all speak the same. Diversity in leadership may actually be good.
Pros
They can be very flexible and it's a pretty easy job to do
Cons
Your expected to meet a certain quota of RedCard applications. If you get above expected, good for you. you *might* win a 'Target Dog' (Stuffed dog). BUT DONT LET THEM NOTICE YOUR NUMBERS SLIPPING. You will be constantly, and I mean multiple times a shift, reminded that you need to get those numbers up. At my location I was threatened with my job.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend more time trying to understand that we cannot force RedCards on people, and more time trying to help us be better sales people, and some actual incentives would be nice.
