Pros
This store is definitely like a family. I haven't been there over a year but I feel like I have grown a lot from this store. Its nice to see mgmt. ETL- logistics and team leaders work just as hard (I cant speak for the other teams). You always know when you're doing something right because they will acknowledge whether or not for that day, two days ago, last week, or for the entire month. You dont always get that from mgmt. and I've worked at another Target so I will know.
Cons
Benefits are hard to come by but what should I really expect from a retail store.
Advice to Senior Management
Great Job to all three of the Logistics mgmt. Only things is to watch some of the people whose been there for a long time and ALWAYS moving slow, talk more than they work or teaming up on work that would go faster if they was separated. But other than that I think they complement eachother and have great strengths which makes a great team.
Pros
family atmosphere
duties are fairly easy
pleasant and clean enviroment
team leads and managers are nice
Cons
too many hours or not enough
will not work with your outside of job schedule
excessive workload
low pay
Advice to Senior Management
We did too much work to still get paid minimum wage, and realize there is a life outside of target.
Pros
The upper level management was thrilled to learn my knowledge in branding and merchandising, and didn't hesitate to give me the freedom to use it. I was trained in multiple areas and given a lot of opportunity to learn about retail business management.
The management was very willing to work around my college course schedule and very helpful with time off request for the most part. There were a few occasions when I had issues, but the team worked through them.
Cons
I felt a bit used at times because I had knowledge of the things other staff didn't, and it was taken advantage of. I may not have felt that way if I had been compensated for the skills I used.
Advice to Senior Management
I felt a bit under appreciated because I understood areas that other employees didn't necessarily know. I worked harder than a lot of the staff, so I was then asked to do more. It was a vicious cycle and a lot of the staff at the company took advantage of me because I was so hard working. It would have been nice to see other people step up and help the team.
Pros
great team
good managers
good pay
flexable
love it a lot
Cons
nothing.........nothing at all i love target
Pros
Flexible schedule. Great Team Overall.
Cons
Expect too much of high efficiency workers.
Advice to Senior Management
Spread work load around better.
Pros
Inclusive culture that inspires the best in leaders at all levels and develops a tremendous culture of being great for team, guests and shareholders, as well as the community.
Cons
Target is a very large company and that can allow for an individual to become lost in the shuffle if they are not assertive, however those that vocalize desire to do more are always met with that opportunity.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall Target leadership does a tremendous job of balancing the many needs of its employees and overall I've been very satisfied with my experience.
Pros
Able to take on extra hours when income needed a boost, people were friendly.
Cons
No work/life balance allowed. Promises about career advancement never honored. HR Manager asked Team Leaders to unfairly rate employees low on annual reviews to save yearly budget. So financially motivated they forgot that the employees are also customers who talk to the people around them...you get the idea.
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure that upper management holds themselves to the same standards they apply to team members. Bring in individuals that truly represent the company ideals and not just corporate climbing.
Pros
A great part time position with great people looking to have fun in the downtimes. The mix of employees from the retired to the high school student was interesting .
Cons
Failure of management to share missions and goals of the store or any information about the organization which might help customer service.
Pros
Clean environment, Friendly staff good place to work overall on general
Cons
Pay is okay, some management personel do not tray employees with the respect they deservep
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work, and make sure management is treating all employees with respect
Pros
Corporate Diversity is great because Target accepts everyone. They make sure to embrace peoples individuality and allow employees to have a chance to share their personalities with everyone.
Cons
If you refuse to brown nose to the executives you will not last long in the company. No matter how hard of a worker you are the minute you challenge their ideas or authority they have it out for you and will make sure to get you out of the company post haste. The ability to advance within that company is terrible. If you already work at a store as an hourly employee and are attending school, don't think for one second that when you receive your bachelors degree that you will have the chance to be a salaried employee. They don't even allow current employees to intern with the company because they already have thoughts and opinions of the company. They want people who are ignorant to the Target brand and can be molded into the perfect clone of an executive.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure each and every Target stores follows the corporate culture that is so proudly promoted and displayed. Every store has a hidden agenda and they do not follow the same ideas as the corporate headquarters. Young store managers and executives don't know how to separate power from manageability. They thin k because they have a degree they can treat employees however they want but fail to realize that the people they are treating poorly will have a degree soon and are generally the same age and don't need to be condescended.
