I have been working at Target full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible hours
    Amazing Team Leads/ETLs/STL
    Ability to be cross-trained
Able to pick up more hours than scheduled.

    Cons

Stress from not enough people scheduled sometimes.
Late nights when the store is a mess

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Schedule a few more people to work the really busy days instead of being short and behind on work.

I have been working at Target

    Pros

Flexible schedule, friendly retail environment, very appreciative of the skills gained. Lots of cross training available as well as opportunity to pick up shifts.

    Cons

Normal retail cons, tough customers at times. Sometime management is just by the books not budging or being lenient on certain things at all. Lots of gossip and drama, but that may just have been at my store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start realizing that valuable assets need to be treated as valuable assets. Anything less than a 25 cent raise is a slap in the face to a "valuable asset"

The company is a good one to work for but growth possibilities start at the Executive level, Team Leaders are limited.

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good environment, positive attitude in most cases, lack of accountability.

    Cons

lack of accountability, low pay, constant changes and lately only negative changes for workers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accountability is the key to success of this company, and shareholders are not everything you have other stakeholders involved too do not forget about them. I am sure that you are testing all the new best practices introduced, but make sure that the quality of service which is so important for you does not suffer from your new best practices, if you really want to see how your new ideas work outside the test stores, start doing surprise visits to stores all over the country, and do not criticize the management but think what went wrong in your planing.

    Cons

More work load than any other position at target its backroom! We will get others team members trash and backstock from the floor and also from flow sometimes they dont push it to the piece.

    I worked at Target

    Pros

Flexible schedule, great team members, open door policy is great if you ever have an issue. Discount.

    Cons

Pay, start low and even lower raises. Discount, even though you get one its very low compared to other companies. Favoritism from managers. More company caring then team member.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees, flush out the managers that don't contribute to the team and talk down to their team members. Do more for them.

I worked at Target full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lifelong friendships made, interesting new products

    Cons

Green upper management straight out of college with no ability to actually manage; the "open door" policy is not at all for real; team culture only exists if you know the right people; having to push the credit cards on every single person

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within, degree or no degree, as those people are the ones that truly care about the company and its mission

I worked at Target full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    Former pay scale
    Schedule, Holidays
    Hourly team I led

    Cons

Once you reach pay cap your stuck. No 4 year degree...no advancement. Their mentality has changed dramatically over the past several years. I used to love working there but now all they want is the young mindless, inexperienced college grads who can be brainwashed into believing Target's way. Having 20+ years in retail doesn't matter. Once you are labeled as being there too long you WILL be coached every week until you are on a final written warning and then terminated. For doing NOTHING wrong. That's to make room for new hires who will make half your pay. Now with all the debt they have racked up, it will be nearly impossible to work in one of their stores....They will skim off more payroll and force the team to pick up more and more work with skeleton crews. Do not work here!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your business model doesn't work anymore.
You continue to make stupid decisions about growth and personnel.
I'll enjoy watching you slide down the list of major retailers in the coming years.
