The company is a good one to work for but growth possibilities start at the Executive level, Team Leaders are limited.

    Pros

Good environment, positive attitude in most cases, lack of accountability.

    Cons

lack of accountability, low pay, constant changes and lately only negative changes for workers

    Advice to Management

Accountability is the key to success of this company, and shareholders are not everything you have other stakeholders involved too do not forget about them. I am sure that you are testing all the new best practices introduced, but make sure that the quality of service which is so important for you does not suffer from your new best practices, if you really want to see how your new ideas work outside the test stores, start doing surprise visits to stores all over the country, and do not criticize the management but think what went wrong in your planing.

    Pros

there are little pros of working here

    Cons

managers hound you to be the best worker. You earn very little. Your raise will be ten cents. the work is so boring and busy (retail). co-workers will tell on you and talk about you. you will not move up in this company even if you work there 5 years or more.

    Advice to Management

pay your workers what they deserve and maybe they will enjoy working there and perform better for you.

    Pros

Flexible schedule, great team members, open door policy is great if you ever have an issue. Discount.

    Cons

Pay, start low and even lower raises. Discount, even though you get one its very low compared to other companies. Favoritism from managers. More company caring then team member.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, flush out the managers that don't contribute to the team and talk down to their team members. Do more for them.

    Pros

Lifelong friendships made, interesting new products

    Cons

Green upper management straight out of college with no ability to actually manage; the "open door" policy is not at all for real; team culture only exists if you know the right people; having to push the credit cards on every single person

    Advice to Management

Promote from within, degree or no degree, as those people are the ones that truly care about the company and its mission

    Pros

    Former pay scale
    Schedule, Holidays
    Hourly team I led

    Cons

Once you reach pay cap your stuck. No 4 year degree...no advancement. Their mentality has changed dramatically over the past several years. I used to love working there but now all they want is the young mindless, inexperienced college grads who can be brainwashed into believing Target's way. Having 20+ years in retail doesn't matter. Once you are labeled as being there too long you WILL be coached every week until you are on a final written warning and then terminated. For doing NOTHING wrong. That's to make room for new hires who will make half your pay. Now with all the debt they have racked up, it will be nearly impossible to work in one of their stores....They will skim off more payroll and force the team to pick up more and more work with skeleton crews. Do not work here!!!

    Advice to Management

Your business model doesn't work anymore.
You continue to make stupid decisions about growth and personnel.
I'll enjoy watching you slide down the list of major retailers in the coming years.

    Pros

The benefits are good and the store is good about being flexible with scheduling. The team members work well together and bottom performers are moved out pretty quickly. Upper leadership is pretty responsive to issues and concerns and everyone is pretty friendly.

    Cons

Retail hours can be stressful and a work life balance is not always accomplished. The company has stores that test different hours, so closing times can be anywhere from 9pm-12 pm depending on the location and business volume of the store. Store hours are also extended during the holidays making it more difficult to adjust life patterns.
Pay is not bad for upper management but there is always more work piled on without extra staff...unreasonable demands that are stressful. Equipment decisions are terrible and there is never enough to go around.
Promotional opportunities are very limited and many jobs go to new grads who do not know the business and do not last long.

    Advice to Management

Listen to and act on what employees are telling you. They are the ones working in the trenches and have the working knowledge of day to day operations. Stop hiring college grads with zero experience to run stores.
