NO. Not what you think it is.

Electronics Team Member (Former Employee) Coral Springs, FL

    Prossmall 10% employee discount
    clean store

    ConsTreat customers better than employees
give customers more opportunity to save money than employees
    awful management structure
    Minimal Pay
Hire you as one department, for example: Electronics, Fitting room, Or grocery, However you ARE RESPONSIBLE to work the entire store, every department. Only Customer Service or bakery/ meat stay in their department

Advice to Senior ManagementStop running your store like walmart. You need to have more relaxed expectations for your employees, and the store manager should be more involved in the actual supervising process, instead of distancing the store manager from employees, making it a very small chain of command. Also make the district manager's phone number available to call, its our business to know how to contact our district manager.

Ok pay, but leadership was lacking.

Sales Floor Team Member (Former Employee) Davie, FL

ProsBetter than minimum wage starting out, flexible hours, even as an hourly worker you still accumulate sick time.

ConsSupervisors were unrealistic at times when it came to getting work done, not enough workers scheduled sometimes.

Advice to Senior ManagementSchedule more people to work so the employees at the store don't get in trouble for not being able to do enough work.

    Stressful but nice environment

Cashier (Current Employee) Pembroke Pines, FL

ProsTeam member discount (10%), environment, nice selection of clothing

ConsRaises are very small, excessive push for redcards to customers!! Can't get very annoying because they are always bothering u about it if your a cashier. That's all they care bout pretty much. U can get promoted soley off that. Needs to focus more on customer service then target cards

Advice to Senior ManagementEver since the whole incident wih target happened. U can't expect to keep doing the same numbers in redcards. So stop pushing employees and just encourage them to focus mainly on customer satisfaction

    Deli team member

Deli Team Member (Current Employee) Coral Springs, FL

ProsAutonomy (self-directed), goal-oriented (each shift responsible for its own work and handoff to next shift)

ConsPoor performance not dealt with timely, making shift more difficult than necessary for those who are performing

Advice to Senior ManagementBe clear on shift responsibilities, direct supervision of deli team rather than sharing a team lead with other work areas

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Target and the REDCard

Cashier & Guest Service Team Member (Current Employee) Miami, FL

ProsTarget works well with a students schedule and hours. Target also allows you to move around within the company

ConsLack of communication between staff and management. Although there is an open door policy management doesn't necessarily hear what you have to say. Management tends to categorize people into groups instead of looking at someone individually.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere should be more communication between management and staff. Management should actually hear what they have to say versus just brushing the person off. Management should also understand everyone is different and should be treated as an individual.

Ok for 1st entry-level job during High School

Cashier, Guest Service Representative, PhotoLab Tech, Food Ave Cook (Former Employee) Lake Mary, FL

ProsThe wage helped with paying for college. The hours were pretty flexible. Knowing when there were good sales/deals was a plus. The 10% discount was ok. Great place to learn customer service skills.

ConsSupervisors and managers were often people who moved up from lower entry-level positions and developed authoritarian ego complexes and used their position to fuel their power trips. They rarely showed employee appreciation because everyone is an easily replaceable number. Extreme patience is necessary because the general public has little to no respect for retail workers, especially during/after holidays.
