Don't expect good communication or to get any positions you apply for.

Sales Floor Team Member (Current Employee)
Olive Branch, MS

I have been working at Target part-time for less than a year

ProsOkay for a summer or seasonal job. I love retail but Target has forever changed my view. I will never work for this company again.

ConsThey will work you to the bone. You have a day off? No you don't. They will call you in every day. They also cross train you which is great but it's just so you can fill in for the people that don't show up. Don't expect to move up fast. It's not going to happen. If you have 3-5 years to wait for a promotion then go for it.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunication, honesty, and more communication. You never know where you stand with this company. Telling someone five different things from five different people is NOT effective management. You ask a question and they say you will get a follow up and HR will be sure to put it in the daily email. Yeah right.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Target is not a company for full time growth

Retail Team Mempber (Current Employee)
Collierville, TN

I have been working at Target full-time for more than 5 years

ProsTo provide a supplemental income for the household

ConsNo encouragement for long term career growth, wages that do not reflect true comparison to cost of living, no real classification of part time or full time employee, benefits that are difficult to obtain due to high expense, no real reward system for excellence in work performance (a free hot dog from the snack bar for signing up red cards?) and hiding behind evaluations to avoid proper wage adjustments (7 to 10 cents an hour is an adjustment considered to be insulting. Too many others to list here.

Advice to Senior ManagementShow some genuine concern for employees and encourage professional growth. That's part of how a company gauges its success. To stay in your office and hardly acknowledge the efforts of your staff and not appreciate your staff isn't really considered good management.
