    Pros

    Hours
    Steady Paycheck
    Discounts

I enjoy working and assisting guests with finding their needs. The pace can vary depending on the day and the management but it is a pretty good part time job.

    Cons

    Room for advancement
    Management
    Lack of communication or direction

Typical part time work. Like many companies, the management leaves some things to be desired. The lack of communication amongst employees is typical of any big box store but the management can make a tiny problem bigger. Due to the way the store is staffed, there are a lot of call outs and those who should receive the hours do not.

    Advice to Management

Consider recruiting retired or experienced professionals for part-time. We have a lot to offer and the ability to be flexible. Consider having younger associates as full-time because it gives you the ability to grow your brand at a reduced pay rate but they can gain the experience from more experienced part timers.

    Pros

They offered (in 2013 anyways) a shift differential if you worked overnight. They are very aggressive on making sure breaks are taken and labor standards are met. If you are a good worker and fast learner, they will try to teach you more and increase your opportunities towards team leadership.

    Cons

There are lots of social/political/cliques between departments.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid to let employees make suggestions and implement them even for only temporary to try out. Sometimes change is good and could be the next best thing at Target and spur employee motivations.

    Pros

Friendly work environment, easily gain new friends, flexible schedule especially for college students

    Cons

Too much is expected, impossible to gey any work done due to constant calls for team target, never clock out on time, constantly hearing about red cards

    Advice to Management

Hire more people so that there is floor coverage and all pulls and zoning can be done in ample time

    Pros

They will try to reward the team members with goodies, and they provide great volunteer community activities as well as donate money and goods.

    Cons

Every executive is out for themselves. The work/life balance is not always available. There is no trust in the employees. Getting equipment to do your job is a nightmare and when you find some, it works half the time. If they did not care about scores we could do all the outside work they want us to do and not what we are supposed to be doing.

    Advice to Management

Have all your managers on the same page.

    Pros

Fast paced working environment. Feel accomplished at the end of each shift. Flexible time off. Flexible scheduling. Full health benefits including health insurance and dental for team members who average more than 30 hours a week during previous year.

    Cons

Poor communication between a top-heavy infrastructure and incapable lower level team members. Too many cooks in the kitchen and they never agree. It's very easy to get caught in between the lines as multiple executive team leads will look out for themselves.

    Advice to Management

Better communication. Pay the employees more. Working at target us an incredibly expensive job because of how much money you don't make. I have a college degree and you insist that I'm worth 8.75 an hour. That's not okay.
