Pros
- Involvemnet in communitities
- 5% of profits donated to charities
Cons
- I recieved outsatnding review scores for 2 years and have a bachelors degree in business management and was told I did not have enough experience to promote to an Executive Team Lead. I had 6 supervisors in my 2 years who where all fresh out of college.
Pros
Target has a feedback oriented culture, a warm cozy family feeling, and the senior leaders are really looking out for you. Overall it's great corporate culture! Also you're given a lot of responsbility from the beginning, which is unique for a graduate coming right out of college
Cons
Work can be redundant, very political environment
Pros
Great work life balance, great people. The city of Minneapolis was really great, and the corporate culture was very young and inviting.
Cons
Salary, ability to advance in the company. There is no travel involved, so if you are looking for that, seek else where. They also have a great logo.
Advice to Senior Management
I would make it easier to advance within the company. Stop with the constant feedback culture perspective. Increase salary and be more available to business analyst interns.
Pros
Great culture and atmosphere
10% employee discount
Cons
Downtown Minneapolis
Culture can be like high school
Advice to Senior Management
Need to innovate and try something new to excite guests.
Pros
Lot of investment in employees
Career advancement and clear paths
Great co-workers
Very respected company, take pride in working there
Make huge impacts on the business
Cons
Have fun working nights and alternating weekends
Get to work extremely early, stay late
Close on Christmas eve and other holidays
Advice to Senior Management
Change the schedule to working every third weekend and you would have a lot more retention.
Do away with the unnecessary corporate 'busy work'
better communication from head quarters
Pros
Allows individuals to experience multiple positions and explore their own careers.
Gives excellent training
Great work life balance
Supportive in education
Cons
Extremely bureaucratic and can tend to push lower level people to the side
Sr.Management is close minded to new ideas
Too conservative
Absolutely no diversity at all
Advice to Senior Management
This is a global community. Your workforce, ideas, and leadership needs to reflect that. Get too mired in process, and it will reflect in your product
Pros
Target team members at HQ are mostly hard working fun people to be around. My manager cares about my development and gives me the latitude to work independently. Target invests in my development and seems to be looking for ways to allow me to spend a significant amount of my career at Target (15+ years).
Cons
The leadership at Target is mostly politically conservative and that leaks into company actions on occasion. The MN Forward was the single most disappointing access my company took during my employment. Leadership has acknowledged that the gift was short-sighted, but I think the CEO is more irritated that he got caught instead of truly feeling remorse.
Despite efforts to reduce this, promotions for some seem to be based on who they know instead of their skill level. While this is less than in the past, it still occurs.
Advice to Senior Management
If something on a best team survey cannot be changed say it instead of putting together teams to address the issue.
Pros
Many opportunities for advancement
Management tried hard
Decent pay and health benefits
Great culture (work hard, play hard)
Smart co-workers
Cons
Work/Life Balance
Computer systems can be beyond frustrating
Training does not necessarily set you up for success
Not enough vacation days
Advice to Senior Management
Increasing vacation days would help with transplant retention
Invest in new computer systems and programs
Constant changes to "best methods" are impossible to keep up with
Pros
Excellent growth potential, mapped out career paths, easy people to get along with, laughable work/life balance (can change by department)
Cons
Artificially fun/happy attitudes in many employees (team members, see what I mean), mandatory 1 year in role rotations if you are good (even if you have 9/10 points on your review, you will only advance when you hit a year in role and have an open position available), raises are laughable (1.5% if your performance is very average, and 2.5% if you are incredible).
Pros
Good work environment for all
Cons
Too many specialized support groups to gain "sign off" from
Advice to Senior Management
None
