Pros
It was a great place to work that allows you to interact with plenty of people, and gives you the ability to train for different areas
Cons
If you are a casher and your are a male if the cart associate does not show up or needs help your are sent outside without notice
Advice to Senior Management
I would like for them to be better able to adapt to my schedule because I was not scheduled what I had placed in the schedule
Pros
very professional as well as friendly the store is too big and they make the entire new team to walk around the store to see how everythings else works
Cons
too many interviews, the store is too big and they make the entire new team to walk around the store to see how everythings else works.
Advice to Senior Management
need to minimized the interview process .the store is too big and they make the entire new team to walk around the store to see how everythings else works
Pros
They work with your schedule
Cons
99% of everyone above the basic team member position is fake. They will smile in your face and talk about you behind you back. Favoritism is clearly shown in their promotions. Pay rate sucks
Advice to Senior Management
Raise pay rate
Pros
It can be as they say "Fast, Fun, and Friendly"
Cons
Horrible pay, no communication within the team, too many leaders trying to be "head honcho", no real accommodation, you spend most of your shifts running around like a chicken with the head cut off, no real direction given in assignments...need I go on?
Advice to Senior Management
Learn how to communicate with team members better and compensate us for doing TEAM LEAD work when it's due, we work hard it's not just only you who has stresses all day especially working on a "team" like this.
Pros
-Good benefits after 90 days if full time.
-Training is dependent on the trainer, but mostly satisfactory.
-Very friendly co-workers/management.
Cons
-Cut hours....hired for 40, then cut down to 30. Can't pay bills on time.
-Recognition lacking.
-No advancement unless you have a degree or years of experience. Higher positions rarely open up within the store.
-Pay is a dollar more than minimum wage.
-They don't allow every open position to be applied for within the company and hand them to favorites.
Advice to Senior Management
Allow employees to apply for open positions within the store to give them a chance, instead of giving it to someone they already had in mind. It's against corporate policy.
Notice someones work ethic more regularly.
Make sure we are given raises once a year at least.
Pros
The store is very well maintained and I feel that the people who shop there are much more respectful compared to other retail stores.
Cons
Many coworkers are very lazy causing you to do more work than required if all employees actually worked.
Advice to Senior Management
Please discipline your employees.
Pros
Store discount, national locations, better environment than walmart, The people seem fast fun and friendly, they try to work with days you need off.
Cons
Like any other retail position turnover is high. I worked there for two years and was let go of because they scheduled me outside of my availability 15 minutes after I got out of school and evetually I was one of the highest paid and they used this as an excuse to get rid of me
Advice to Senior Management
Look after the little guys who cover all areas of your store, my first manager did this and I loved working here, but after I got a new manager he didn't care what went on before he was there. New managers need to learn techniques to make change when they're new.
Pros
flexible working shifts (not by choice though) days off during the week (but have to work weekends) though does make it easier for doctor appointments and such.
Cons
lack of support from senior management
popularity contest to be treated with respect
as a lower level mgr, i could not give a warning to anyone because they would complain to HR and they would overrule anything
Advice to Senior Management
grow some, value your hardworking dedicated employees more, stl's need to get a grip on reality and actually communicate with their lower level management rather than sitting in their office all day.
Pros
Target has a very friendly atmosphere with regards to the relationship between management and employees. There is an open door policy so you youcan take any problems straight to management.
Cons
There are about 25 different departments in a store and you usually work in about half of them. You could be asked about sports equipment one day and bedding the next.
Advice to Senior Management
I understand that last year was a tough time for the retail sector but this year i'm hoping for more then a 16 cent raise and more hours to work.
Pros
At Target, there is ample opportunity to advance for top performers. Promotion is based on performance and not seniority. The pay is very competitive, and it is possible to increase your starting salary quickly by way of good performance and promotions.
Cons
Target places too much emphasis on needing a college degree to work in a leadership position, or move from an existing leadership position, where one has already proven their abilities to another leadership position.
Around 2005, Target decided this was mandatory for all new hires and Executives who were already in position. This has resulted in Target placing some Executives in position solely because of they possessed a degree, resulting in some awesome failures!
Advice to Senior Management
Reconsider the college requirement when hiring Executive staffing. Also, be more forth coming about structural changes within the organization and do not leave people guessing on what is happening or may occur.
