I have been working at Target

    Pros

I like the interaction you have with team members and guests. Very flexible with scheduling and willing to work with you. HR in every store lets you handle any pay issue quickly and easily. I'm in a store with a very knowledgeable STL (Store Team Leader) and I've learned a lot from them. Never a dull moment, there's plenty to do. Able to work in different departments fairly easily.

    Cons

Depending on the store, the team culture can be different. Sometimes there are leaders that don't act like leaders. Like with any place you work, the politics can get pretty ridiculous.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to inform your team about how important their role is and how it fits into the big picture. Sometimes people will do a better job if they understand why they are doing what they do. And while it's nice we are driving guest loyalty, stop adding to the novel our poor cashiers have to be sure to output in every transaction to every guest.

I have been working at Target part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The amount of people that you get to interact with on a daily basis and your coworkers. Although it is an extremely fast paced company to work for you learn a lot yourself and the company. Awesome room for moving up (ETL/STL) as long as you have a BA and willing to work for it, the sky is the limit. Pay is decent for some "entry-level" jobs

    Cons

Staffing is a huge problem during peak seasons, particularly 4th quarter. Some of the upper level management does not actually know what goes out outside of their offices, which I think is a shame: that also leads to unrealistic goals because some have no idea what it actually takes to do some of the jobs. Employee discount is seriously falling short compared to other major retailers. And most certainly the hours and not having holidays off, but that's the way of the beast.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend time learning what goes on behind the scenes,(back room) and begin staffing properly and retake a look at the daily goals.
