I have been working at Target as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

One of the greatest benefits of working at Target is the company culture. Everyone from warehouse workers, all the way up to the general manager are treated with the same respect. Target puts a tremendous emphasis on building relationships and improving as a leader. This emphasis on professional development enables managers to grow and further develop as a work professional, which ultimately leads to advancement within the company.

    Cons

Don't expect a typical 40 hour work week. You will be working extra hours, but that is understand and expected by pretty much all Managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the culture strong within the company. Leverage your strength as an employer and continue to empower and develop employees.

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good pay, excellent co-workers, 3-4 day work. Full time employee, 5+ years experience

    Cons

Declining benefits. No accountability from "leaders", Very reactive, no faith in company direction, will definitely be the next sears/mervyns if they don't listen to employees who are actually invested in the future of the company rather than listening to fly by night "leaders" looking to pad resumes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow through on companies vision, less propaganda and more action. Promote from within, listen to the individuals who have an interest in the company not 22 year old college graduates looking to make a name for themselves. Get rid of ineffective management/remove levels of management who are not value added. Reward ground level workers REMEMBER they are the foundation!!!!

    Pros

Benefits, Shift that I worked was fantastic. People you work with.

    Cons

What you are asked to do, in the time they want you to do it, is almost impossible. They also tell you, you are doing good, even though they let you go before 90 days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Check your trainers, and your training program. You are spending lots of money on training over and over again.

I have been working at Target full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Target is a company that provides you with the opportunity to become a true leader in distribution. You can develop in any area you want, you simply have to be committed to your own development.

    Cons

Target execs can be unforgiving to executives that they consider less talented. Once you are labeled it is very difficult to remove that label.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Distribution Centers and Import Warehouse's are not stores, the focus seems to be shifting to following the store model.
