Pros
If you want to go onsite. Only Pro, This is the only way you can make money at TCS.
Cons
1. Senior Management is incapable
2. TCS sucks every penny or should I say Paisa out of the employee. Never pays the employees well
3. You will almost most definitely be placed into a project which is not of your choice. Even if there is a project which you would like to join, TCS will place you into a project which is critical for them and does not consider your preference.
4.No Team outings or any other incentive for the employee after completing a Project successfully.
5. No Non-Veg in the Canteen . BIG MISTAKE !
6. Hardly any training's.
7. Majority of TCS Projects are Support !
8. You would have to work in shifts if the project requires it. You have no choice.
9. No Laptops
10. No work From Home.
11. Many of the Senior management are employees who have been at TCS for more than 15-25 years (Mostly Graduate hires), so they do not know how other companies function but TCS. Very narrow minded.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider your employees. Pay them well and offer them some incentives
Pros
Good training for freshers.
Onsite Opportunities but depends on your luck.
Opportunity to work in variety of technology and roles.
Cons
Too much crowded. You have to be working very hard and need a lot of luck in your favour.
Hike in compensation not satisfactory.
Advice to Senior Management
Too much of hiring at the same time bench strength is also increasing.
Compensation revision should be looked very seriously.
Pros
Exceptional opportunity to learn many things
Cons
poor salary , employee support, benefits
Advice to Senior Management
Be brave , dont beg , have dignity of work and support employee concerns...clinet can be god but employees are atleast human
Pros
you can learn technology in earlier stages of your career
Cons
no promotions for senior employees
Advice to Senior Management
fair treatment
Pros
If and only if you get into a cool project
there is good work - life balance
and job security for those who do not know anything about anything
Cons
If you be with a client who knows the value of it's money (most of them know) then your life is screwed. 12 hrs min work per day even on weekends (same in my proj)
Whatever Client say management will accept (actually there is no management only clients control everything even your leaves)
People who do not do anything are higher in rank and get more salary and appriciation
Advice to Senior Management
Please respect employees (We all know you have loads of them)
Pros
Has good sociable people around.
Seems to be less political - at least at junior levels.
No peer pressure.( excpet for billing the required hours ).
Cons
No structured appraisal.
No career planning.
Has more people centric ( You get what you want if you know people high up the ladder )
Advice to Senior Management
Need to look at more value addition rather than volume and low level maintenance work !!.
Pros
work life balance
exposure with cleints
great people around u to work
less pressure in work
Cons
very littile comepensation benifits.. very high variable pay
Advice to Senior Management
reduce variable pay & pay accrding to industry standards
Pros
-Good HR policies
-Very competent senior management
-A good and rigorous training process which grounds trainees in all aspects of the job that will be required of them
Cons
-Extremely hectic work schedules during project completion
-Low salary packages
-The training infrastrucutre in even key places like Bangalore is seriously lacking in hygenic food and surroundings.
Advice to Senior Management
Employess should not be allowed to linger at benches and should be put to productive work. Also compensation packages should be in line with the best in the industry.
Pros
Discount at Tata products and retails
Brand value among service companies in India
Cons
Pathetic work life balance
Peanut level salary
No fair appraisals
Managers are incompetent
Midlevel managers are particularly not of any use as they dont anything technical.
Freshers are the ones who are working on the job mostly
They got around 2 lakh employees and every years after completion of 2 years bond around 25000 people resigns and leaves the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Get technically skilled people into mid manager level.
Pros
Good for those who are on bench, can easily get salary sitting at home
Cons
HR Managers are not Employee friendly, Managers control HR Managers. They will sell u for clients, you will be sold to clients on timely basis, your talent will be used until you are saturated and at last you will be graded D
