Pros
future growth options
big brand
diverse workforce
Cons
big organisation lack individual career growth focus
Advice to Senior Management
Hire talent not mass
Pros
- Numerous clients in varied domains utilizing various technologies and thereby excellent exposure
Cons
- Bad compensation
- Inconsistent review process. Teams are given overall numbers and team members are forcibly 'fit' within those limits. This causes very inconsistent ratings. Very very good performers in one team may get the same low rating as moderate/poor performers in other teams
Advice to Senior Management
- Need to work towards making the employees feel proud about their place of employment
- One of the ways to do that is to have a tough yet sensible interview process (at least for technical roles)
- Remove all the politics in the review process
Pros
can learn new technologies, can go for onsites if you have that destiny.
Some projects are just for name sake, total rest, no work.
Cons
for promotions and good appraisal, PL, GL combing is necessary
always gives impossible deadlines to clients
salary wise no up to the mark
Advice to Senior Management
Make appraisals transparent
Don't promise impossible deadlines to clients and make the life of associates hell
Give appraisal based on talent
Pros
all round development.. if u say, u will get the work u want..
senior mgmt at consultant levels listens on u'r concerns .. wat they do wid them. it is on u..
TCS mumbai has good work culture than delhi...
all policies depend on client.. he can allow facebook or he can't allow u to open tcs mailbox..
timings are bit flexible if the concerns are genuine.
flexibilty in choosing the project as long as requirements match to u'r profile.
shift strech is normal.
Cons
mgmt is ineffective in sharin the work.. some have hell lot of work n others don't have in the same project. dey just divide the application,..
They believe in learning n sharing So u can't expect an outside training as long as business is not paying for it.
again lack of mgmt in giving onsite opportunity.. 1 project will be sending a fresher at site and others hav 7 yrs guy wid no onsite exposure.
Performance appraisals is a joke...
make u wait n wait for onsite rather than release u from the project so that u can look 4 onsite from other project..
each TCS office has its own policies wrt stationery to other facilities.
they have hell lot of ppl but they expect PL to manage alongside technical stuff..
Advice to Senior Management
performance appraisal needs focus, salary compensation is a big concern..giving onsite opp needs attention who is doin what and how much exp he is.. share the work, not applications
Pros
Good exposure and good mgmt . Was given opportunities to progress and take multiple roles
Cons
Avoid politics and stick to your job
Pros
1. A lot can be learnt if you have interest and a thirst for knowledge.
2. Good projects are available with latest technologies and platforms.
Cons
1. No work-life balance. U have to work like a slave.
2. No proper salary. You would be expected to work like a team leader and paid for a team member.
3. Top level people will never care whether there are any problems in team. They want the work done.
4. No appreciation on wat ever you do.
5. Pure politics on any issue (Performance Rating, work allocation, on site)
Pros
Good leadership, fair worklife balance, good compensation, good opportunities,
Cons
Limited opportunities for Technical Writers
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Good work culture, flexible, can enjoy the work life.
Cons
More rules, tough to get the technology on our own intrest.
Pros
provides opportunity to learn as you grow, good place to start off right after college. good growth opportunities if staying with them longterm..
Cons
long working hours, salary less than their competitors
Pros
Some good huge projects (Depends on your luck though)
Opportunities to learn different technologies
Trainings aplenty
Processes followed properly
Time in and out not micro monitored
Cons
CHEAPest when it comes to spending
Take oncall, sit at home and work on weekends, but do not get oncall allowance or compoffs
Only shifts ending after 1 am are entitled for night shift allowance. Most US projects strategically place shifts as 2 to 11 or 3 to 12. Midnight is not "NIGHT", but daytime, in Management's dictionary.
Zero benefits. Only benefits are that if you buy Tata products, you get some discount.
All HR policies are designed in a way to cause monetary and health loss to employees
Advice to Senior Management
Consider employees as humans and not animals. Relay ALL HR policies. Current policies are the worst. Deal with attrition with an open mind
