Cons
Worst HR and RMG i have ever met.
RMG's role is to push people to some project and some work, they dont care about peoples and their interests.
Advice to Senior Management
The way employees are treated should be changed, things should be more professional. If u want to reduce the bench strength, then recruit diligently but simply forcing people in to projects will not help.
Pros
I worked for the company 1.5 years. The HR & project managers where very friendly. The role and oppurtunities provided was exactly the same as promised during the interview.
Cons
Some of the process has takes too long get executed.
Advice to Senior Management
Should implement lean methodology

Advice to Senior Management

Other Benefits
Brand name TATA
Cons

Advice to Senior Management
Too early to say
Pros
Good for either laid back /technically not so well off guys who are willing to be on support/maintainace projects. Also good for management guys who are good at talking and making others work
Cons
project allocation without considering proper skill set
lateral hires from hardcore development background are forced to work on excel sheets/regression testing and sometimes even automating test cases
no future for those hired as trainees. they are made to do all internal stuff - maintaining excel sheets of people in the project, tracking leaves taken by others, tracking ip addresses etc..and sometimes product testing.
Manager is God. those who are nice to him get good rating.he can delay your promotion to any extent.Completing your work is not enough. Your manager should not see you at the cafeteria!! He even gives his login to the employee of choice to fill up goalsheets and stuff he is supposed to do. Managers in TCS are mostly frustated people who have started their career in TCS and are technically a zero (unable to find a job outside).
TCS reminds me of a typical government organization where you need to run from poll to poll to get your things done. for eg, at the time of joining, i had to submit my docs atleast thrice, either as part of policy or because they 'got misplaced'. Then you are asked to meet someone, who inturn gives you a number to contact. You contact this person and he asks you to send a soft copy of your resume urgently. Then you run in search of a system..someone tells you can access internet from library! you run to the library, wait in queue to get a system and finally you send it. Sometimes they ask for hard copies and then you end up in more trouble.cos now you have to get PAPER, which TCS gives you only from allocated project inventory. If you have a friend who is already allocated to a project, then may be you can get some paper by requesting him/her.
Advice to Senior Management
Please introduce a 360 degree review system where the subordinates get a chance to review the managers as well. This has implemented in a number of companies
Please streamline the process of recruitment so that employees are not demotivated even before getting allocated to a project.
Pros
One of the first things that matter when you work in companies as large as TCS is "the team" you end up working with. If the team and project are good, it sets the tone for your overall experience with the company. Having said that, here are my few pros from working with TCS for 3 years (worked in two locations, Hyderabad & Bangalore) -
* TCS is mindful of employee needs. For eg - when I had to relocate from Hyderabad to Bangalore, they did what was required to help me find a new project. That way, I would say they are family friendly.
* If your supervisor/manager is good (if you are lucky) and you are fairly capable and good at what you do, chances for career progression are decent. You will have to work hard to get where you want to be. Career progression is a bit slow, but possible.
* TCS training is one of the best, but everything good about the company stops with the training.
Cons
I list more cons than pros because my overall experience with the company was just ok.
* The renumeration is far from the industry standard, probably at the lower end of the spectrum.
* For one year I worked in a project where I put in almost 15 hours of work per day, sometimes sleeping in the office and waking up and working through the next day. Work-life balance was the last thing on my mind during this year. While I enjoyed the work, what irks me is the level of acknowledgement the team received for our work.
* My two years in Hyderabad were mired with severe office politics.
* The rating system through which employees are promoted or given a raise needs a much needed overhaul.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn from the hiring and retention policies in place at other Indian companies and MNC's. You have a few things going well for you, but there are so many facets that can be improved to provide a much better experience to your lower rung employees (who is the most significant part of the company, not just cheap labor).
Pros
No work Pressure, Number of Leave, Office Timings
Cons
Strict Rules, Less Pay compared to other firms.
